Man Utd spend 60 million and they have not improved!

Tue Jun 28, 2011 11:47 pm

Man Utd spent 60 million so far and I don't think they have improved!

None of the new signings would of had any impact against Barca.

I would of thought it was impossible to spend 60 million and not improve your starting 11.

are you pissed?????

they signed a quality young goalkeeper and they signed ashley young who will provide pace and crosses for rooney and hernandez....

Re: Man Utd spend 60 million and they have not improved!

Phil Jones - 20 million.

Ashley Young can't cross for shite and they don't even lack wingers. Nani is better.

They have signed a young and untested keeper. Edwin was a proven keeper and had a great season.

did spain win under 21's???

ashley young assists also include free kicks, penalty's and young

Re: Man Utd spend 60 million and they have not improved!

Wed Jun 29, 2011 12:16 am

Oh shit! They won the under 21s! I'm so wrong. That is just like playing in Prem week in and week out.

Rooney had a drop in form. Nani comes back and he starts to play well.

When Barca were f*cking them up the ass, I didn't think:

'A player like Ashley Young might help'

They needed to invest in central midfield and so far have spent 60 million and not improved the weakest part of team.

whoever they buy, they will not beat barcelonas current team.

Tbh who cares about what Man Utd are doing? let them do there own business and concentrate on our own club

Re: Man Utd spend 60 million and they have not improved!

Wed Jun 29, 2011 9:59 am

the keeper is untested?

Re: Man Utd spend 60 million and they have not improved!

Wed Jun 29, 2011 10:08 am

De Gea has been playing la liga football each week, some call THAT the biggest league in the world, not the PL, hardly untested

Re: Man Utd spend 60 million and they have not improved!

Wed Jun 29, 2011 10:20 am

It's not the biggest league in the world - Compare their top six sides and it's pretty clear the Prem is better.

And he is just coming out of only his second full season and has to re-place a world class keeper.

Man Utd has been a grave yard for keepers.

How many did they sign after the Great Dane left?

Re: Man Utd spend 60 million and they have not improved!

Wed Jun 29, 2011 10:23 am

there signing potential in de gea. not to say he isnt already a great keeper becuase he is from what i have seen. but his potential is world class.

i wouldnt say united are that much of a grave yard though. its hard to find a good keeper after having such a good one. you look at arsenal after seaman. cardiff after alexander. its not easy.

i think van der sar is a fantastic keeper and if fergie could make him 5 years younger he would.

btw interesting stat.... van der sar's save percentage is 98% from shots outside the box.... wow !!

I said some believe it, i don't, some do because the style of football is more entertaining maybe

Re: Man Utd spend 60 million and they have not improved!

it's all opinion isn't it

the top two in spain are vastly better than the top two in the prem for a start

that doesnt make spaid the best league though does it. because the bottom clubs in spain could get stuffed by some championship sides !! if you count all 20 teams on average id say prem then italy/germany then spain.

thats only my opinion

Total shite.

Why the f**k have Real done? When was the last time they got to the final?

Re: Man Utd spend 60 million and they have not improved!

Wed Jun 29, 2011 10:59 am

Phil jones will be one if the best defenders in the world in 2/3 seasons, great buy for them!

Re: Man Utd spend 60 million and they have not improved!

They should be paying off their half a billion debt before buying anyone lol. Ah well, least they'll go bust sooner than later. Would be great to see the world's biggest plastic club go into admin!

Re: Man Utd spend 60 million and they have not improved!

I'm not saying they are bad players.

But none of them will have the impact needed to make a difference now.

And to spend 60 million not have an impact right away is not something I've seen before in football.

So real madrid finished second in la liga, then spent 300m in two seasons and finished 2nd in la liga!!!

f*cking hell.

I guess Ronaldo and Kaka were un-tested players when Real signed them?

Re: Man Utd spend 60 million and they have not improved!

Wed Jun 29, 2011 11:09 am

I'm not really a Man Utd fan but they've made 3 incredible signings. Phil Jones is one of the biggest prospects in the country, Ashley Young is 7th on the all-time list of assists per game (http://astonvillablog.com/random-stats- ... sist-rate/) and David De Dea is 20 years old and has been the first team GK for Athletico Madrid for two years.

How are these bad signings?

Re: Man Utd spend 60 million and they have not improved!

Wed Jun 29, 2011 11:15 am

No one has said they are bad signing.

I just said they won't have an impact now and central midfiled being their biggest weakness and they haven't spent a penny there.

i just gave you an example
So real madrid finished second in la liga, then spent 300m in two seasons and finished 2nd in la liga!!!
i thought u would have known about as you seem to think you are an expert above all others on anything football. U either have a serious chip on ur shoulder, or ur just a fool

Re: Man Utd spend 60 million and they have not improved!

The signings made by Real were first team players.

Man Utd have spent 40 million on youth.

My words.....

"And to spend 60 million not have an impact right away is not something I've seen before in football."

I HL the important stuff in bold cos you missed it.

Real signed world class players that were ready for the first team and already had played at the highest level.

Two of UTD's signings don't have a full cap between them.

Re: Man Utd spend 60 million and they have not improved!

Or are you saying that Kaka and Ronaldo were bought for the future?

Man City? Ok, they're just starting to make their way up the table but please....how much have they spent over the last few years to win an FA Cup?

Re: Man Utd spend 60 million and they have not improved!

Wed Jun 29, 2011 11:39 am

you obviously can't grasp the concept of resale value or potential.....teams spend more on younger players as POTENTIALLY they can be worth more. Look at rooney, bought at 18ish for 27m and now worth more than twice! Phil Jones is considered one of the brightest prospects in this league and in 2/3 years be worth more than they paid. On the flip side, UTD bought Berbatov for 31m and due to his AGE is worh half that.

Re: Man Utd spend 60 million and they have not improved!

Wed Jun 29, 2011 11:42 am

BUT DID THEY SPEND 40 MILLION ON UNTESTED PLAYERS?!?!?!?!

f*cking hell!

I know Chelsea have spent more.

I know Real have spent more.

I Man City have spent more.

BUT.........

I've never seen a club spend 60 million on players that are not better than was already at the club.

Utd have spent 40 million on two players that don't have a full cap between them.

I don't think Young is an improvement on Nani.

But 'I've agreed on those points you made.

And the topic of the tread went over your head.
