Rangers boss Ally McCoist has made a second bid for Cardiff City target David Goodwillie.

The Gers manager has upped the ante by half a million pounds to bid £1.5m for the 22 year old Dundee United striker as the Scottish club try to edge in front of the Bluebirds.

The £1m offer from the Scottish champions was flatly turned down early this week, but McCoist quickly came back with an improved offer.

It is thought the method of payment will be vital in the horse-trading for the £2m-rated forward.

A down-payment of £1m in cash is the key, plus instalments to make up the rest of the million related to appearances and international caps.

McCoist has already missed out to the Bluebirds in the chase for Craig Conway.

Goodwillie is on tour in Ireland with Dundee United and is also facing charges of assaulting a man in Glasgow city centre last November, a case that is continuing next month.

The Scottish Young Player of the Year has also been charged with the alleged rape of 24-year old women at a New Year’s party, but no court date has been set for that allegation.
