I think standard AA or RAC is pretty cheap whereby they will try to fix the motor or if they can't fix it then they take the car to the nearest garage. It's the "dropping" back to the house that puts the cost up I'm afraid as that has been so abused over there years they simply can't cover it. Certain elements of society will for example, drive to the nearest "whatever------festival, drug den, supermarket, etc" with only sufficient money to buy drugs. They then ring up road side rescue assistance claiming "dat de dam car broken down init" or whatever the current txt language is in a feable attempt to blag a free ride home.

Tell him to change bank accounts, most "banks" offer basic road side assistance as part of the account but if the car reg has Y as the last letter on the plate then it would be cheaper to leave it where it broke down, set fire to it, get a cab home then report it stolen. I read that on some other board, can't have been CCMB must have been a Jack one... ;)

Tell your Dad to look here..

I worked for the AA for 4 years! on Penarth Rd - a long time ago - but you can get their Roadside and Relay for about £46 a year! :ayatollah:
