I always feel that a player whose squad number drops is for the chop, doesn't look good for McPhail if I'm correct!

Theres so many players ahead of him know though. I'd like to keep him about but realistically his days are numbered

No-one has taken 13... pussies!

As Malky himself picked these numbers, clearest indication that Marshall is his first choice keeper. Christ we're gonna have some scots on that pitch

Annis' recent post would suggest I'm barking up the wrong tree, hope he comes through it.

Or maybe I should have read the whole story properly.........

His favourite number is ten; 10, 20 etc gone, so went for 3+7. Wouldn't worry unduly. RossCo always had 44 from day one as Chops had 8.

I have number 50... I am f*cking shit though.
Interesting to see Kiss at 4. I really like the look of him and really have no idea how Malky will pick the middle of the park with Gunnarsson, Cowie and Kiss all vying for that role.

I assumed Ross had wanted 44 as that was his number from Rangers as well, his only spell as a no.8 being at Motherwell. Could be wrong though.
Anyway, I should still have read it correctly!!!!

Ross had 44 as it's the number he had at Rangers when he scored his first Champion's League goal for them. Also when Ross signed Fowler had 8 and quickly left. Bothroyd hadn't signed when the squad numbers were announced that year:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/footbal ... 512163.stmMcPhail has 37 as it was the number he had when he first came pro. Giving Earnie 10 I imagine is a pull from the sales department given that it was his old number.
Starting XI can't really be taken from the first 11 players, mostly because Gunnarson's 'preferred' number is 17 but other than that I think that might be the XI against WHU.

37. Stephen Mcphail!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
TAMPING!!!
Wed Jul 27, 2011 2:08 pm
were looking into this far too much,
alot of players are superstitious about numbers.
earnie would not have played without number 10 imo. mcphail wanted 37 from his leeds days.
marshall might of kept number 1 as he had it for longer and i think best not to swap it and cause bad tension even if heaton is number 1.
the only one that i find unusual (in a good way) is kiss at 4 that one must mean he is a big part imo
Wed Jul 27, 2011 2:11 pm
34 - Luke Chambers
35 - Paddy McCourt
36 - David Goodwillie
38 - Lewis Mcguigan
39 - Craig Bellamy
Be happy with that.

Naylor's had number 3 taken off him then.
I wouldn't even give a shirt never mind a number.
Wed Jul 27, 2011 2:44 pm
13,25,26,27 & 29 missing are these reserved for 5 new players?
Wed Jul 27, 2011 2:49 pm

Goodwillie likes the number 25 by the way
