MALKY PRESS CONFERENCE

Its all coming together. We probably have a couple more players to add to the squad but we are still working on that. May not be new signing before first game of season

Everybody has worked hard. It's a brand new group finding its feet together. They are beginning to get to know each other and how each other plays.

We will certainly see Kenny Miller on Saturday but we want to be careful with him. It was great to get him on board and for that I have to thank the board here for all the work they put in. It shows what we are trying to achieve here as does the signing of Robert Earnshaw.

I'm very pleased with the quality of all the signings we've made. I want to make sure we got our number one targets and we have got them.

12 players left in the summer so there was a massive area to fill. We have got 9 in but we still need more to pad the squad out. We've got a small squad of experienced players but still to decide on starting XI.

Craig Conway is fit and will play tonight.

I think rumours about Stephen McPhail and his cancer situation have been dispicable. I don't know where they have come from. He is in remission. Specialists are still dealing with Stephen but there is no long term problem. He will be back. Stephen asked for the number 37 shirt. He has enough onhis plate and then these things leak out. Family can see that and start getting worried. It is despicable that someone actually puts these things on internet.

Darcy Blake has shin injury, Gunnarsson and Kiss both have tightness ahead of tomorrow. all will be fine for West Ham. That is our focus. As far as our forwards are concerned, Kenny Miller and Rob Earnshaw were our two forward targets (No to Goodwillie).

I spoke to the manager a lot. Rangers were interested but this was something new - a new challenge. The manager played a massive part.

I'm looking forward to playing with Earnie. He's a fantastic player. I want to get into training, get my fitness up and be ready for West Ham.

I think the manager will bring alot to the club. He's already made a lot of good signings.

Playing in Championship will not hinder my international chances.

The manger is trying to put his own stamp on the team and buy players he think will get us promoted. I'm really excited about working for him. He has a great reputation.

There's a few familiar faces here and its made it easy for me to settle.

I played against Cardiff alot when I was at Wolves, The supporters are very passionate and they are always noisy. We want to win and we want to perform well tomorrow.

I wanted to try something new when I went to Turkey. there wasn't much else on the table fore me. But it was just too big a change, for my family. It was just too hard. Everyone was welcoming and friendly in Turkey but it just didn't work out.

A lot of things were said about Rangers being interested but it was late in the day when they made the phone call. By that time I was well down the road with Malky and I didn't think it was right to go back on that.

As soon as we have somewhere to live I'll get the family down here.

Its a new challenge. The club has come very close to promotion this year so hopefully we can make that happen. That is the aim.

There's plenty of Scottish lads here. I think there's less faces I don't recognise than the ones I do and have played with. We've got our own language about 8 or 9 of us - We don't have to speak too slowly so we can just crack on and speak among ourselves!
