I've made a list here of all our players listed by the squad number with details of when they joined, the fee they joined for but quite worringly in many cases, when their contract is due to expire with us.

Over the last few years our club has lost out on £Millions as big-name players have left as free agents. Our players need to be tied down to longer-term contracts to prevent this from happening.

Most worringly, the following player's contracts are due to expire in 1 years time and could then leave for free:
Marshall, Heaton, Quinn, Hudson, Gerrard, Gyepes, Naylor, Taiwo, Wildig and the rest of the youngsters!

Many of these players are worth a lot of money and we cannot afford to lose them for free!

Cardiff City need to start negotiating deals quick beofre the Ledley, Matthews, Bothroyd and Burke situations happen again!

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

IMO none of the players with 1 year left are as big headed as Bothroyd was, Matthews & Ledley all had issues inside the club (be it DJ, the board, or the Riddler). Burkes was a strange one though.

I wouldn't say any of those players with 1 year left are worth a lot of money.

I'm not sure it would be wise to be giving the likes of Taiwo, Naylor and Gyepes long contracts!

think hudson will sign an extension, not too bothered if the others listed do leave.

gerrard needs a big season and will also want assurances over his future before signing an extension..

wouldnt be too gutted if we lost, taiwo, wildig, gypes, quinn . naylor or marshall to be honest...

Good players though they are, they are not the type that are going to be in great demand from other clubs offering big contracts, so I think the club are sensible in seeing how the season progresses before offering longer contracts to them.

With your football management skills I guess you must be sick after losing out to Malky!

All the youngsters signed a professional 1 year deal at the start of this season (in pre-season). We shouldn't worry about losing them on free's. If we do it is most likely because they won't be good enough. I can see Hudson and Gerrard being offered new deals, as will be the same with our keepers. If quinn recovers from his injury and regains his form i hope hes offered a new deal. Hopefully wildig will stay as well. I can see Gyepes, Naylor and Taiwo gone either in Jan or in Summer.

I value Huds and Gez in total at £3mil. Then Marsh, Heaton and Quinny are worth at least £1 mil.

£4mil very realisitic I reckon. We bought Huds for £1mil and he has improved loads 2 years on. Gez was 1 of the best centre-backs in the league last year. Marshall, Heaton and Quinny ar very good championship players as well!

Those valuations were when clubs had money now clubs at our level are mainly looking for freebies. We are in a recession for heavens sake.

A player is only worth what a club is prepared to pay for them and realistically Hudson and Gerrard are both worth around £3mil for the both of them. Gez was 1 of the best Centre-backs in the league last year and Huds is a very good championship centre-back. Plus their both fairly young.

There is now way Hudson and Gerrard are worth £3 million. Both are worth around £750,000 at best. With regards to the others I wouldn't give more than £300,000 for either of them as they are average championship players.

Doesn't really matter how much they are worth at this present time. Let's just hope the club can get some of the players to sign new contracts!
