Is it a race for the play-offs already?

Although our owners appear to be richer than Mr King Power at Leicester and Mt Porn Kings at WHU, both these clubs seem to be building squads like Newcastle and West Brom two seasons ago.
Although I feel that the Premier League riches are overstated because the costs are so high, I just cannot see the point of Vincent Tan and co building a solid, sustainable club losing 10 million a season and never getting promoted.
Can anyone see the business strategy here as I, for one, am missing it?

I had never thought about Gethin and the MM angle, but I am sure that you are correct saying that at Xmas if we are not challenging there will be some serious questions being asked.
