Newcastle United
On 5 July 2010, Perch signed for Newcastle United for an undisclosed fee, on a 4 year deal.[3] He wears the squad number 14. He made his debut for Newcastle against Manchester United on 16 August 2010.[4] On 18 September 2010, he set a new Premier League record by being the first player ever to receive 5 yellow cards in his first 5 games in the league.[5] The previous record was held by Edgar Davids who received 4 consecutive yellows in as many games since his debut for Tottenham. His disappointing form continued, with him scoring a late own goal in his 6th match (return from suspension) to hand Stoke City an unlikely away win at St. James' Park. Perch kept his place in the line up, but was dropped after his display at home to Wigan Athletic in a 2–2 draw, after being at fault for one goal and struggling up against Charles N'Zogbia. He was replaced by Danny Simpson for the 2–1 win over West Ham United.

DECLARATION

I do know my spelling, grammar and punctuation is CRAP. I put it down to my lack of schooling preferring to mitch (truant from school) rather than go to school. The joke is firmly on me now which will bring a smile to any of my old English teachers.

Cardiff linked with James Perch

According to The Evening Chronicle Cardiff City are keen on taking Newcastle United defender James Perch on a season long loan with a possible option on a permanent deal according to the article. Cardiff's Championship rivals Leicester City are also keen on the defender.

Cardiff City boss Malky Mackay is in the market for a defender, but said a few days ago, there was no rush and he did not expect to sign anyone before the start of the season.

Perch missed Newcastle's tour of America he instead toured with the reserves in Holland with it looking odds on he is not in the Newcastle bosses plans for next season. He joined the North East club in July last year from Nottingham Forest coming through their youth system signing for an undisclosed fee, on a 4-year deal.

His season with Newcastle has not been spectacular only starting 11 games in total and off the bench four times. He did break one Premier League record last season, the first player ever to receive five yellow cards in his first five games in the league.

How come you had to clarify what mitching is? I thought that was a UK wide slang term? Is it just a Cardiff one?

At 5 11 he's too short, Miller is 5 10. We need someone 6'+, who's good.
