Shudder to think about vigilantes running around armed to the teeth confronting anyone with a hoodie on, What we need is back to basic´s GIVE THESE DELNIQUENTS THE CANE IN SCHOOL(I HAD THE CANE MANY TIMES AND NEVER BECAME A PYSCHO IT TAUGHT ME RESPECT FOR THINGS AND MY ELDERS), IF THEY ARE CAUGHT ON THE STREET BEING ÅRSEHOLES FINE OR STOP THEIR PARENTS BENEFITS IF UNDER 18. ANYONE OVER 18 CAUGHT RIOTING TREAT THEM EVEN WORSE THAN FOOTBALL HOOLIGANS WITH LONG CUSTODIAL SENTENCES,IF OF ETHNIC ORIGIN (ASYLUM SEEKERS,MIGRATION WORKERS) RE PATRIATION OF THE WHOLE FAMILY IMMEDIATELY NOW IS THE TIME TO TAKE OF THE COTTON WOOL GLOOVES AND PUT ON THE BOXING GLOOVES!!!! I completetly agree but the goverment have got it too cushy and have not got a back bone ive said it for years people my age (18) get away with murder hanging around streets causing trouble and all they get is a slap on the wrist its pathetic but the MPs dont care as long as there at the top of their apartment building or in there posh houses away from the trouble they wont do f**k all... There was a mp on tv this morning saying that the police cuts will still go ahead and people in the community should help out by coming forward with names/footage of the wrongdooing chavs but what she dosent say is that they were too scared to leave there houses as everything around them was being smashed and burned by the cunts who get dole thats paid for by people who work and then they get there houses wrecked and then she was asked about the army being brought in and she shot that down straight away and of course she did all of our troops are too busy getting shot at in iraq in a war that has nothing to do with us we were just too scared to tell bush to go choke on his wifes dick our troops should be home helping us not fighting americas war and once its eon we wont even get any recognition (again) and america wont help us because there in deepdeep debt yet again this comes down to our govement not having a back bone between them.

No I meant ordinary working,middle and upper class people getting a gun permit through the proper channels (as protection for person and property) because believe me most of the arseholes are armed to the teeth with knives ,guns etc already.

If guns were legal then a lot more of these rioters would have guns, that's the problem. Also, there are daily shootings in the U.S because guns are able to be aquired so easily. It'd be a lot more easy to get a hold of guns illeagally.

Sorry, but completely disagree with the idea of guns coming in - these protests are a clear example of why guns should be illegal (before I go on, I'd like to point out that I'm living in Brixton, and have seen the riots first hand).

Could you imagine what it would be like, if these rioters - the many thousands of them - had guns? Could you then imagine if the police had guns? How many people would be dead already? It'd be dozens if we were lucky, probably hundreds.

People are throwing petrol bombs at buildings for the fun of it, and you want to make it legal for them to have guns? Yup, that way they could just start shooting at buildings for the fun of it and, whoops, add a couple more dead bodies to the pile.

And to address the idea that we could prevent 'chavs' from having guns - how exactly could we do that? A lot of them don't have criminal records, so what? We don't allow anyone wearing burberry/a hoody to buy guns?

The only difference between this and a war zone is that the two sides are unarmed - no guns, no tanks etc. We would already have hundreds of dead bodies, rioters, policemen and random civilians in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Nope, no guns - they don't protect you, they make you less safe. For anyone who thinks that having a gun in their pocket makes them safer, I'd like to point out that every political leader who has been assassinated in the past 50 years have been surrounded by armed guards - some of the best shooters in their country. That didn't protect them.

I was sat in my apartment last night thanking god that the people out there don't have guns - I already had enough to worry about with my girlfriend travelling home when it was supposedly kicking off again.
