Carl Curtis took a massive amount of stick from several quarters when he posted about Michael Chopra and his gambling addictions. But the truth finally came out when Chopra admitted it 2 weeks ago and it turned out what Carl was posting throughout last season was in fact the truth all along, Carl was not the bad guy, Carl did not let us down, it was Chopra.

I remember Carl saying in one of his updates that Bothroyd was on his way to London to sign for Fulham but Dave Jones phoned him and had him turn his car around and he was not selling him. Carl had the piss taken out of him for saying it, Carl also said that Newcastle were very interested in signing Bothroyd as well .

Today on Twitter Bothroyd has answered questions about his time at Cardiff and it seems that Carlos was indeed right again, it is easy for people to say 'what does it matter now' and 'he's gone, forget about it' but think back to the stick that Carl took at the time of posting what he did and he took the flak on the chin, nobody could back Carl up but plenty would call him a liar and say he is destabilising the club.

Carl said that Gethin Jenkins agreed a deal with Jay's agent with 2 clubs and Bothroyd has said today that Gethin tried to sell him to Newcastle. I wonder if those who mocked Carl will stand up and be counted now BUT I DOUBT IT AS THEY ARE COWARDS?

We all remember back in the summer when our manager and Chief Executive said that they were concentrating on bringing players in and they would deal with the current players new contracts once the transfer window closes, could this method cause City to miss out automatic promotion if Jay leaves in January.

At Scunthorpe today there are no less than a dozen scouts all there watching Jay Bothroyd, scouts from Stoke, West Brom, Birmingham, Newcastle and there are even 2 scouts sent from Man Utd.

I am reliably informed that we did in fact receive an offer of £4million not from one but from two clubs during the transfer window. One of those clubs were Fulham and the other is still unknown to me. Because the offer was the agreed price I am told that Jay was on his way to London to talk with Fulham over a potential move but during the journey and somewhere along the M4, Jay received a phone call from Dave Jones who told Jay that we are not selling you and turn the car around and come back to Cardiff.
What was Dave Jones' reason for telling Jay to turn around, was it that he felt he could not get a replacement? Was it that our players are mortgaged and the money would go to Ray Ranson? Was it that the Malaysians told Dave Jones that we do not want to sell Jay Bothroyd ? I remember telling people that Sam Hammam told the Malaysians that we had to keep Jay for our best possible chance, was this reason ?

Whatever the reason, the fact is DJ wanted to keep hold of Jay and Jay also decided to stay and we were all happy at the final hours of the transfer window when Jay was still here.[/color]

So Gethin tried to sell Bothroyd but Bothroyd didn't want to leave.

And Bothroyd says that the club tried to sell him BEHIND the managers back.

Jay tried so hard in fairness
At the end of the day he thought he could have a bigger chance of playing for England after his call up who could exactly blame him? He saw a chance where he could actually get an international career and to do that you have to play in the Premier League espically being a striker. Yes money plays a part but for his career he had a second chance of trying to prove at Premier League level. Its done now and he left at the right time because he could be classed as an ego and we got a team full of fighters and i dont think he would fit in and i dont think it would even Rub Off on him.

Jay was class, and I also believe that he genuinely loved the club, desperately wanted to get promoted with CCFC, and that he will never enjoy such a relationship with supporters anywhere else!

Why do I come on this board? Because people like Carl and Annis, and a few others, have good contacts, and they have a pretty good idea about what is going on. And I trust them. They talk the talk, and they walk the walk. This is of interest to all of us.

But it's time to move on. No good calling Bothroyd and Chopra names. It's gone.

Everyone knew about Chopra gambling addictions hell there was even songs about it . That is totally different to what this board was trying to make out that Chopra was out on the piss the night before the game , Isn't that why you and most on this board wanted him out. Sod all to do with Gambling debts and all to do with so called drinking before a game

If you take away the gambling, drinking etc from Chops he is STILL liable to go
on a 10 game run without scoring. As much as i liked him, i think any side with
him as the main goalscorer are going to come up short, just.

Jay is just Jay. Brilliant at his best, but invisible at his worst. Again, i think its
consistency throughout the team that will eventually get us out of this division,
and we appear to be getting there.

Well our defence is still all over the place but there's a massive difference and step up in quality in the midfield and its clear as day to see, but we're lacking in the strikers dept and the board does need to address that

He was injured FFS. He should never have played at Wembley in the first place, but he wanted it badly.

I was outside that pub in Marylebone when the City squad walked passed before the game, it was surreal.

Jay was bang up for it, some players were a bit shy when the chants and well wishes went up. Not Jay, he was at the forefront, giving it the cmons to the fans, stopping to shake hands, and he was bang up for it.

I dont believe for one second he didnt care about Cardiff City. Not after that moment.

Wether the things Carls said were tue or not some things should be kept behind closed doors.

Personally i think that CCFC and all who support Cardiff City should be greatfull that Carl has always delivered His up-dates respectively and without biasest, TBH I am quite impressed with Carl's ability to keep certain rumours and tittle-tattle's out of reach, which to me show's He has the Clubs best interest at heart. Somebody less scrupulous could have a feking field day with the press and MB's.
