Sun Feb 14, 2010 8:41 pm

Loved the Jam and the Clash although i was very young at the time, but still love em now.

I lived in Woking for 20 years from 1981 onwards and The Jam were big local celebrities back then. I remember in the late 90s being in Toys R Us looking at Star Wars figures with my mate when the film was re-released and paul Weller came up and stood right next to us.

Also, Sham 69 weren't far away, in Hersham (hence the title of one of their singles), and I had a beer with their bass player about 15 years ago

Great music at the time and yes I still listen to them. It has been known for old Willy to get one of the guitars out from time to time and have a little twang. Luckily for the neigbours both Marshall 4 x 12's (Laney head) are in the shed so I only have the little ole Marshall 2 x 12 in the house, a barely audible 130 watts :(

I was neither a mod, skinhead or engaged in any other frivilous fancy dress nonsense. I was and still am a pretty shit guitar player, all the gear no idea

Cant remember the dates, but i know some girls were Teds, but my mates were all becoming skinheads and mods. I can remember going to get my skinhead haircut, easiest couple of quid for the barber.

Who killed liddle?
Did you kill liddle?
Who killed liddle?
Police killed liddle towers

Who killed liddle?
Did you kill liddle?
Who killed liddle?
Did you kill liddle towers?
Who killed liddle?
Did you kill liddle?
Who killed liddle?
Police killed liddle towers

Why did he die, or did they lie?
I think he's dead, so a doctor said
He was beaten black, he was beaten blue
But don't be alarmed, it was the right thing to do
The police have the power, police have the right
To kill a man to take away his life
Drunk and disorderly was his crime
I think at worst he should be doing time
But he's dead
He was drunk and disorderly and now he's dead

Questions are unanswered
Policeman scared to talk
Perhaps they are hiding something
Will my message get across
Please tell me why, why did he die
Please tell me now, and tell me how

Police have the answers
But they haven't got the right, to kill a man
To take away his life
Perhaps I'm not to clever, perhaps I'm not to bright
But I think your verdict was just a lie, a lie, a lie, lie

Murder, murder, murder, murder..
Murder

Who killed liddle?
Did you kill liddle?
Who killed liddle?
Police killed liddle towers
Who killed liddle?
Did you kill liddle?
Who killed liddle?
Police killed liddle towers

Send "War On The Terraces" Ringtone to your Cell

GO!
It's a dark place over there
the seats, and the stands are bear,
but you remember not long ago, all the times that we battled there.
The sun, it shines right on the gutter
And you remember that he was there,
And you should know, right there in the fold, that you grabbed him by his hair.

War on the terraces
(War on the terraces!)
It was war on the terraces
(War on the terraces)

The local pub, it stands silent
And all of this town, will be soon
and you remember the pints we would sink
and sing "the fuzz is watching you"
The youth remember them wagons that took us straight down the nick
when we would sing back to them, don't it make you feel like a prick?

(CHORUS)

So you're looking up, at the terrace
and smile, yeah it breaks your face.
And to the younger generation, we'll be here to take your place!

(CHORUS)
