Police Escorts

Mon Feb 15, 2010 6:52 pm

Pompey fans coaches were bricked within a mile of leaving Southampton FC on Saturday...the police escort had not been properly operated and supporters club coaches were bricked before the escort caught up.

I remember our coach getting bricked in Sheffield services about 4 years ago and also coming out of Stoke about 3 years ago...but I also seem to think that escorts out of stadiums are getting less and less...what do you guys think?

One time we had massive escorts some all the way home from Plymouth and Reading lol...

Do you think the police are saving money thesedays and escorts are getting smaller, shorter and less frequent or has nothing much changed...I don't often travel by coach thesedays so have lost touch a bit.

1 coach of Cardiff fans got escorted all the way to Cardiff gate from London, where over 30 South Wales Police met them, took all names. video etc and then let them go, no one arrested.

Not sure who foots the bill away from the stadium Id imagine its the authorities, theres clearly cutbacks left right and centre at the moment with massive cost cutting afoot. They reckon the public sector is being slashed with 4,000 council jobs in Wales to go next year/this year. Regarding the old bill my missus works for transport police and certainly cutbacks there with freezes on recruitment this is being replicated across the forces from the met to west mercia. I think its cost cutting as the government try to turnaround the finanical spending which cant be met, even Gwent police have cut down on traffic police :ayatollah:
