Why is life never simple?

My Mrs is 30 weeks pregnant. Found out the other week that she has a condition called polyhydroamniosis. Basically the condition is too much fluid around the baby. She has a consultant appointment tomorrow but it is looking highly likely that the baby will be born upto 6 weeks early. I have read up on things and all i can see at the moment is my son ending up in an incubator. It is doing my head in.

Wilts.... dont worry will be fine mate, georges mate next door was born earlier than that, wighed just over a 1lb , hes now the fastest right back with a julian dicks temper you will ever see!

I had 2 boys 1st one on time was in the SCUBU unit died twice resussed twice and siezures - consultant said he should never have lived - but never once did that even enter my head!

2nd boy brought out 5 weeks early 8lb!!!!!!!!!!! breech and if he was FT 14lb plus!

You just make sure she stays as less stressed as possible and with other kids in the house not easy!!! - maybe you need to miss the rest of the season

Hi mate a mate of mine who lives in my street, well his mrs had something similar and she had there son just b4 christmas he was 2lb ( he wasnt expected to survive) now after being in itu and 1 hell of a medical team the little un is nearly 8 pounds and middle of march is due home.

Its hard mate and i feel for you chin up fella.

Thanks Annis. My mrs and kids are my life (along with CCFC). My youngest boy Tommy was in hospital 6 years ago today with major breathing difficuties-he was only 6 weeks old at the time and was in for a week. Seeing him in an incubator was the worst day of my life. As Tommys condition improved I remember taking Charlie to watch CCFC v Sunderland (4-0 John Charles disrespect from Sunderland) for his birthday treat with my dad and i got involved in an incident in the car park with a copper-that Inspector tw*t who did the carpark. I'm normally quite mild mannered but the stress of seeing my lad in hospital and the coppers attitude drove me to dispare. Only some smooth talking from the oldman saved me from a night in the cells.

it'll be fine mate. I was born 5 weeks early and put in an incubator (spell check) and I turned out fine.. Well I'll put that up for discusion

Good luck mate. my missus is a midwife. she said try to take it easy till you see specialist as they maybe able to drain fluid off. Theres no guarantee of incubation but will probably need to go to neo natal unit for some sort of special care. Theres great staff around to look after baby.

Hey Gareth, if its any consolation, I was born 5 - 6 weeks early in February 1963, the year the ice age began again. I didn't turn out too bad, two degrees, get paid a reasonable sum of money to tell contractors where they're going wrong and run the UK Water/Wastewater treatment side of a major international consultancy. Still have time for a laugh on here as well. They didn't have anywhere near the technology then that they have now so I'm sure that everything wil be fine. Whats that old expression, the early bird catches the worm? Chin up mate
