They can seek to set aside the voluntary administrator. Bit of a test case could have ramifications for us.

Which might explain why we will settle our tax bill before going into admin.

HMRC will take this one as far as they can.

Independent accountants were brought in after HMRC questioned whether Pompey were even viable and solvent when they were last in court. The accountants came in and before you know it Pompey voluntarily go into administration.

HMRC are going to come down heavy on any tax evasions especially when it involves highly paid individuals. They did the same with offshore accounts individuals had a year to declare their offshore accounts before they were sought out and hit hard.

There are too many avoidance schemes out there for people who are ALREADY rich enough anyway.

Yes HMRC are not happy that Portsmouth have gone into voluntary administration rather than have a court appointed administrator or even liquidation. They are looking to make an exaple of a football club and if they fail with Portsmouth we will be next on their list.

Lol, like the myriad of schemes to avoid taxation, you mean?

Legal - and often illegal - loopholes are used re player payment, because quite frankly, if every player p[aid every penny that was needed to legally, Britain wouldn't be competitive financially for footballers with other European countries.

Arsenal were particularly known for that one scheme, from memory, involved "loans" later written off.
