Season not started

Sun Nov 25, 2012 12:24 am

For me the season doesnt start till after Xmas. I'm still emotionally scarred by those countless 'month of dooms' we have had which have seen us drop from what seemed a comfortable position the last few seasons.

I know we are a different squad with a COMPLETELY different mentality than past squads and management...but if we are in the top 2 come the end of Jan, then the true excitement and realisation that we could actually go up will begin!!

For now, it's game by game...for me every game is like a shift at work, just plough through them and payday will come.

Just watch, if we are in the top 2 by the end of January after the Leicester game, expect 23-25,000 every game. No matter the 'economic state'

Agreed. That threshold between doing well and almost there, that will be the difference. We haven't been able to do the nearly there part yet...but when that realisation comes and expectations realised, I believe we are in for a cracking bunch of games. The negative attitude and flat atmospheres has been analysed over and over, but I believe its simply down to this

high expectation X under achievement X over far too many seasons = a strong sense of frustration, and even higher level of expectation, which in affect cause the crowd to almost be business like in its approach to a game and therefore atmosphere. We no longer see certain high profile clubs as a great game/great scalp.....its just 3 points needed to move forward.

I said on a thread that once we do go up the atmosphere will change for the better, not just cos we are in the big time but because expectation will be at an all time low again like it was a few years back, and we will enjoy being that partizan crowd screaming city on to take a few giant scalps along the way.

Completely agree. We have a bad run every season and I'm just waiting for that to happen. I'm not excited at all yet because I've seen it all before, just glad we're doing well so far. The excitement will start if we're top of the league in the new year. :ayatollah:

Spot on! For me I'm taking each game at a time and not even thinking about us being promoted. I'm fed up of that dissapointment at the end of each season so I try not to get too excited.

Does anyone else think we have yet to see the best of this team?

don't think we've played our best in any game yet tbh! Burnley we showed glimpses of the best we have but we haven't exactly blown teams away yet! best is yet to come me thinks, and hopefully it will be shown from new years to may :ayatollah:

Exactlly we are top of the league and we arent playing at our best yet. We have also been unlucky with injuries. When was the last game we had a fully fit squad to select from?

This is it. Championship beware, if we get a full squad! Mind you, I don't expect Maynard will be back this season, sadly.

Same but hopefully malky either start playing Velikonja or we bring a big striker in january

We've defo not seen the best of Cardiff cos we've not really seen the full Cardiff. I think Millwall was probably the closest we got to having a fully fit squad to choose from. I don't think with a squad our size, we will have a fully fit squad to chose from at any point this season ( excluding Maynard).

The whole point of squad depth though is not having the big players to win us matches, it's to have players capable of stepping in at any point and producing, and producing they are.

I suppose you could look at these injuries in a positive light, it's given the majority if the squad a opportunity to play and prove themselves, which is good for squad harmony.
