McCann's to be charged with neglect
Hollie Flynn London, Reino Unido
Why did the Portuguese police not charge McCanns for children’s ‘abandonment’ after Maddie disappeared
MADELEINE McCann’s parents were not prosecuted for abandoning their daughter
while they dined near by because of “compassion”, law chiefs have claimed.
Portuguese officials thought Brits had “peculiar customs” where it was “natural
for them to leave the two-year-old twin siblings and the other
three-year-old child alone”.
Kate, 48, and 47-year-old dad Gerry left 3 unattended children in a hotel room while they went off to enjoy a night out
THIS IS NEGLECT
Madeleine, who was three at the time, was left sleeping in the family’s
holiday apartment in the Algarve resort with her younger twin siblings as
her parents went for dinner with friends
It is not natural to leave the two-year-old twin siblings and the other three-year-old child alone in a bedroom for the parents to go
out to socialise with their friends and it is definitely not responsible
A friend of the McCann’s told The Daily Star: “They were well
aware that they could be charged with child neglect"
So why was they not ?
A court would have to show they had wilfully neglected their daughter how could they not prove that ?????
The children legal centre states
"Contrary to popular belief, there is no law or regulation that says that when a child may be left home alone, for how long or at what age. It will depend to largely on the individual child’s maturity and understanding. However, it should be noted that it is a criminal offence if leaving a child at home alone puts him or her at risk"
Leaving a 3 year old unattended with twin two year olds is in no way responsible and the parents acted irresponsible and not in the best interest of these children
The children's legal centre also states
"Parents often wonder about when it is safe to leave a child unsupervised at home. The law does not specify an age when a child can be left at home alone. However, parents will commit an offence if leaving the child at home alone puts him or her at risk.
The Coram Children’s Legal Centre advises that most children under the age of 13 should not be left at home alone. Even a short period of time on their own can be distressing and lonely for a child and most children under 13 years of age would not be able to cope with an emergency."
