MORE PRESSURE ON STEVE BRUCE? PUNDIT PREDICTS THE OUTCOME OF CARDIFF V ASTON VILLA

David Prutton is expecting Neil Warnock’s Cardiff City to spring a surprise this weekend when they face Aston Villa in Wales, reports Sky Sports.

Writing in his weekly prediction column, Prutton has predicted that Cardiff will pick up their second victory of the season and pile the pressure on Steve Bruce, by beating Aston Villa 1-0.

The pundit believes that Warnock’s side are dark horses for the Sky Bet Championship’s top-six, after an impressive start to the season has seen them pick up back-to-back victories in the league and cup.

A late Kenneth Zohore goal last Saturday was enough to hand Warnock’s side a 1-0 victory over Burton Albion, which got the Bluebirds’ Championship season off to the best possible start.

Warnock’s side then backed that up with a 2-1 victory over Portsmouth in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday evening, setting them up nicely for this weekend’s visit of Aston Villa.

Bruce’s side have had a mixed start to the season, only managing to pick up a point last weekend against Hull City, who held Villa to a 1-1 draw.

Villa managed to also pick up a victory in the Carabao Cup, but the pressure is on Bruce’s side to deliver in the Championship this weekend against Cardiff.

The Verdict

Cardiff look a strong outfit this season under Warnock, who has completely transformed the club in under a year, with Zohore looking among the best strikers in the Championship.

Villa have also looked strong and were unlucky not to pick up three-points last week against Hull.

Whilst Warnock’s side will fancy their chances against Villa at home, there is so much pressure on Bruce’s side, they simply have to deliver sooner rather than later.
