My View/Opinion

NEIL WARNOCKS CARDIFF CITY BATTER THE ONCE MIGHTY VILLA

Big spending Villa put to the sword by the Bluebirds.

Cardiff deservedly went in at half-time one up and had the Cardiff City stadium rocking.

Some Villa fans booed their team off at half-time.

Second- half Cardiff took total control and were giving the Villa defence a torrid time.

CARDIFF CITY 3 ASTON VILLA 0 :thumbright: :bluebird: :ayatollah:

Etheridge, Peltier, Morrison, Bamba, Bennett, Ralls, Gunnarsson, Damour, Mendez-Laing, Hoilett , Zohore
Cardiff subs

Murphy, Richards, Manga, Halford, Kennedy, Tomlin, Ward.

Crowd 23,899
Away Support 4,803 Villa fans

City players came out to a brilliant atmosphere and for 20 mins it was end to end.

In the 20th min City went one nil up thanks to Laing, sending City fans in to raptures :ayatollah:

Cardiff deservedly held on and went in to half-time 1-0 :ayatollah:

Some Villa fans booed their own team off at half-time.

City really went for it in the second-half.

Junior Hoilett put the ball in the net in the 60th min thanks to Kenneth Zohores run and pass to Hoilett who put the ball in the back of the net 60th min :bluebird:

City were now deservedly 2-0 :thumbright:

City then went on a relentless attack and tore the Villa defence apart and in the 70th min Mendez Laing made it 3-0 :ayatollah:

'Cheerio!'

The Cardif fans enjoying were themselves as they watched Villa fans head for the exits early.

Cardiff could of won this game by 5 or 6 nil.

Full-time CARDIFF CITY 3 ASTON VILLA :ayatollah: :bluebird:

For the first time since our relegation from the Premiership, we actually have goal threats right across the midfield and up top, and as we've seen this past week, teams can't deal with us as a result. The moment we shake off the early season rust, we genuinely could be battering teams who come to the CCS unprepared.

First half was shakey, and I didn't think we looked confident until after the half hour mark. Was anyone's game before that, and our defence was nervous. Good work from us in attack right throughout, but our defending was a little desperate. Zohore did great work in the build up to our first goal.

Second half was a different story though. Villa were never a threat, and City were tearing them a new one. The only thing that changed, from my perspective, was that Warnock must have told us to stop putting the ball in the air because Terry would win those battles nine times out of ten. The result was a Villa back line being torn apart by Cardiff City playing pure football. They didn't have any answers as the half went on either - Bruce seemed to have no clue how to change things for them.

Tactical masterclass by Warnock, and a great team performance. We aren't carrying anyone now; they all want to succeed in that shirt. And Mendez-Laing is superb - how the hell did we get this guy on a free? We'll be turning down double figures for him next summer at this rate!

It's early days, and this season could still go pearshaped, but it's looking bloody good so far. And as you say Annis, this should've been 6-0/7-0.

was awesome today from start to finish . difficult to name a MOM but all players deserve a MOM

our keeper made a great save early doors and they hit the bar from a corner second half but apart from that we dominated the whole game . whether they were poor or we made them look poor we looked like we could beat anyone today . just getting my breath back and my voice back . how much are they paying john terry ???

well done city and fans :bluescarf:

Zohore, Laing and Hoillet will rightly take the plaudits but Damour was sensational today. On that performance there can't be many better midfielders at this level!

Can't remember a game where Cardiff scored 3 goals but in all honesty should have been 6 or 7.Absolutely brilliant performance and thoroughly deserved win.
We had a really strong bench too,I think teams are going to be talking about us now.
Well done City :bluescarf:

Desire passion and fully committed.
The willingness to track back and get forward with a real attacking threat from Zahore hollet and Mendez Lang today was brilliant.
From start to finish every player wanted it and I think we are now seeing Warnocks side he wanted.
If they keep this up we are in for an exciting season ahead .
Warnock keeps talking about the bench I think he will play players at the right times rest then at the right times through the season.
I think now we are seeing what Warnock has to offer and I love it.
I'm an old fashioned fan in your face fully committed passionate work hard time of fan and that's most Cardiff fans in general we like effort.
We saw it today was great I thought we would run out of steam but we looked fit strong and even at 5 to go bamba made a run from his own half to there's.All this against a good Villa side that's spent big over two seasons

Mr Warnock has the team the bench and the desire to win.
Long may it continue I'm a happy man tonight. :bluescarf:

Was mine and my kids first league game, we were in row AA in the family stand close to villa fans, was a great game, great atmosphere. Really enjoyed it. We played well, but not forgetting our keeper who made 2 good saves at 0-0 and zohore could of had a hat trick today. Will probably be there Tuesday

So far, I've watched the Livi, Burton, Pompey and Villa games. If I had to distil it down to one factor........it's the pressing game. You've got to be good to do it and we are, we are containing the oppo to their own half for most of the game and then mixing it up with everything from tappy to direct and then pressing everything else. Sweet Baby Jesus.

I read that the attendance was 23,899 which makes my prediction on your other tread spot on (except for 101 fans!)

I hope we can get 20,000+ on Tuesday but depending on the away support I think it will dip below 20,000 Annis.
