Cardiff City star Lee Tomlin leaves Bristol City fans fuming with cheeky swipe on social media
Monday 18th September 2017
Cardiff City forward Lee Tomlin isn't the most popular figure on the other side of the Severn these days, and that looks unlikely to change any time soon if his latest antics on social media are anything to by.
Tomlin, who was once Bristol City's record signing back in 2016, joined the Bluebirds earlier in the summer, a move that caused many members of the Ashton Gate faithful to take to social media in anger at their former hero.
Joining your local rivals is often a cardinal sin for many fans, but the former Peterborough, Middlesbrough and Bournemouth man's popularity with Robins fans arguably plunged new depths last night after a reply to a tweet sent fans into a bit of a frenzy.
The 28-year-old replied to a post from a Cardiff fan at the Champions League of Darts, which contained a picture of a sign that appears to read 'Lee Tomlin hates the West Country'.
Tomlin himself then replied with a set of smiling emojis and a thumbs up.
While it's pretty obvious that Tomlin's post was unlikely to be anything other than playful banter, it still managed to create quite a storm among Bristol City fans, many of whom had once sung his name on the terraces after his contribution helped their team avoid relegation at the end of the 2015/16 season.
However, as you might imagine, Cardiff fans found the whole episode highly amusing, with many supporters choosing to share their support for Tomlin.
