' Welsh Anthem '

Postby Pembroke bluebird » Sun Oct 08, 2017 6:05 pm

The Welsh anthem is being started off tomorrow night with a few bars and then left to the crowd to continue and finish
I think this is a brilliant idea and will sound awesome

Was always done that way until they decided like rugby to have people singing out of sync with fans! Fans have a unified tempo bands and singers are trained at different pace. Complained before on here about singers being out tune with fans.

Better off without anthems. Just get on with the football. I'm going tomorrow, but won't be singing.

C'mon mate, gotta sing it, I'd sing it no doubt, all adds to the atmosphere, when Woodburn scored it was just after the crowd sung the anthem, it's our lucky song!

Everyone has a choice , any particular reason why you won't sing our anthem ?

The anthem was a thing of pure hwyl last night.

It fills me with such pride to hear us sing, especially that song.

It wasn't to be, sadly, but the anthem was a thing of utterly stunning beauty.

Da iawn pawb!
My father missed the cup final in 1927 as my grandad only had 2 tickets, and my Dad had an older brother!

I know the words. Not just 'our' anthem, (assuming you mean Wales), but any anthem. I don't like the booing of anthems, even of countries I don't particularly like, or don't like us. Just prefer to get on with the game. Last night I stood there respectfully, but did not sing, or applaud either. I wasn't the only one, by the way, at least in block 106. The singing last night was impressive, but did us no good whatsoever! Some countries have brilliant anthems, others terrible ones, but that's not really the point. For me, it's all about the football, that's all. Captains exchange pennants, toss the coin, chose which way to play, shake hands, and away to go. Don't like 'dignitaries' being introduced to the teams, either, but see less of that these days. National anthems can be controversial, too. Some Italian fans won't sing the current one, preferring the older one, for political reasons. I could go on!
