Wales v Panama: Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey pulls out of Panama friendly

BBC

Sunday 12th November 2017

Aaron Ramsey has won 52 caps for Wales

Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey has pulled out of the Wales squad to face Panama at the Cardiff City Stadium on Tuesday evening.

Ramsey has been replaced in the squad by Scunthorpe midfielder Andrew Crofts.

Ramsey played in the 2-0 defeat against France at the Stade de France in Paris on Friday, 10 November 10.

Wales had already been hit by four withdrawals before the France game including Real Madrid forward Gareth Bale.

A Football Association of Wales spokesman has said it was never the intention for Ramsey to play against Panama.

Aaron Ramsey will join fellow Welsh superstar Gareth Bale on the sidelines for Tuesday's home encounter, amid fears that the Real Madrid ace might not play again this year after suffering a calf problem.

Ramsey's absence means Coleman has opted to call up Scunthorpe United's Andrew Crofts for Tuesday's contest, which could see a number of changes from the loss at the Stade de France.

Young trio Ben Woodburn, Ethan Ampadu and David Brooks may well have played themselves into contention after briefly shining from the bench, and Coleman may well see this as an ideal opportunity to give the highly-rated prospects some further game time.

Coleman's own future remains uncertain, with talks set to resume after Tuesday's match is out of the way.

GARETH BALE SUFFERS SETBACK

Sky Sports

11/11/17

Real Madrid have confirmed that Gareth Bale has suffered a setback in his bid to recover from a calf injury.

The Welshman felt discomfort in his left leg at the end of Thursday's training session, which will heighten speculation over the player's future at the club.

Madrid will continue to monitor his recovery, after being diagnosed with a strain in the middle third of the adductor longus muscle in his left leg.

No disrespect to his age but surely we should throw a youngster in there, it is a nothing game that has no bearing on rankings. Why do we call up a 33 year old unless he is cover of course but surely we should no be building again for the next campaign.
