Liverpool's young Welsh duo told they should leave on loan if they don't get first team chance soon -

"They need to be playing regularly," added Rush.

Wales legend Ian Rush believes Liverpool duo Ben Woodburn and Harry Wilson could benefit by securing loan moves away from Anfield if they can't force their way into Jurgen Klopp's first team plans in the near future.

Woodburn exploded on to the international scene by scoring what proved to be the winner just five minutes into his Wales debut against Austria in September.

But he is yet to feature in the Premier League for Liverpool this season, with his only appearance for the Reds' first team coming in the Carabao Cup.

Despite Wilson's stunning goalscoring form for Liverpool's Under-23 side, he has not played a single minute under Klopp since being handed his first team debut by the German in the FA Cup in January.

And Wales' record goalscorer Rush thinks the Wales duo's need for first team action may mean they have to be loaned out from Anfield.

"Ben just wants to play football," said Rush.

"When you look at some of the games, it's a bit too easy for him. He's probably played more for Wales rather than Liverpool this season. Whether he goes out on loan, that's an option. Maybe in January, I don't know. But he needs to get experience.

"I remember Sir Alex Ferguson sending David Beckham out on loan to Preston. They sent him out to learn. I think if Ben went out on loan, he'd have to go to a Premier League club because he's that good.

"If he did go (out on loan) it'd have to be with the right club that's plays in a similar way to Liverpool. I'd love to see him at Liverpool but they've got so many good players. Jurgen Klopp loves Ben so from that point of view it's knowing what to do with him because all Ben wants to play football.

"He's (Wilson) captained the Under-23s and he's still got massive potential. In my eyes he could be something special aswell. Whether he needs to get out on loan, and I've seen him for the Under-23s a lot of times, and he's too good for them. People seem to forget about him, but he's a special talent aswell.

Wales international Harry Wilson celebrates scoring for Liverpool under-23s against Manchester United's young guns
"You either play him or send him out on loan."

Woodburn is one of 11 players in Wales' 23-man squad for their friendlies with France and Panama to have 10 caps or fewer while Wilson - who is in the Under-21 side - has not featured for the first team since becoming his country's youngest ever player against Belgium in 2013.

But Rush believes the Liverpool duo - along with Sheffield United youngster David Brooks - need to be carefully managed if they are to fulfil their potential.

"They need to be playing regularly," added Rush.

"I've known Ben since he was 13 and Ethan since he was 13. I don't know a lot about Brooks but I watched him against Leeds United when he got his goal, he's so quick. You've got three players there who, unless injury prevents them, who are going to be proper players. You can't throw them all in at once, you need to be patient with them.

"The Panama game's completely different (to the France game). They'll maybe throw one or two in there because it's a game Wales are expected to win."

Sure there’s plenty of bigger clubs than us in the que for him though, and that’s if Liverpool would be willing to loan him out.

I'm still unsure about Woodburn playing a full game right now. Coming on against France, he showed his quality, but also showed his inexperience by taking many wrong decisions and giving the ball away.

If we got him on loan, I would still play Hoilett and Mendez-Laing ahead of him and only use him as an impact sub. I still think Woodburn has a long way to go to polish off his all round game.

They're both getting no game time with Liverpool. The difference between Brooks and Woodburn was interesting in Paris, with Brooks looking more impressive.Brooks is playing fairly regularly for the Blades and looks sharp and match fit. Both Wilson ,Woodburn and our Coxe need that experience.

possibly, but going out on loan as a young player is about playing every week, not securing the biggest club you can.

Im not sure woodburn would start every week here, not really a position we need to improve on with Harris on the mend.
