About Brentford

Brentford Football Club is a professional association football club based in Brentford, Greater London, England. The team play in the Championship, the second tier of English football. Brentford FC was founded on 10 October 1889. The club has played its home games at Griffin Park since 1904, after a nomadic existence playing at five previous grounds. Brentford's most successful spell came during the 1930s, when it achieved consecutive top-six finishes in the First Division. Brentford have been FA Cup quarter-finalists on four occasions, and have been runners-up of the Football League Trophy on three occasions.

Brentford's rise from the Third Division South to the First Division had come full circle by 1954, with the club back in the bottom-tier for the first time since 1933. After consistently challenging for promotion to the Second Division in the mid-late 1950s, a further decline set in, which led to relegation to the new Fourth Division in 1962 and the club almost went out of existence in 1967. Brentford yo-yoed between the Third and Fourth Divisions through much of the 1960s and 1970s, before finally re-establishing itself in the Third Division after promotion in 1978.

In 1986, Brentford had been rooted in the Third Division since 1978, but the appointment of Steve Perryman as manager in 1987 gave the club new impetus and under his successor Phil Holder, the club finally returned to the second-tier in 1992 after a 38-year wait. Relegation came at the first time of asking and aside from three seasons in the fourth-tier (winning two championships), Brentford remained in the third-tier between 1993 and 2014, when after four failed playoff campaigns, the Bees were automatically promoted back to the second-tier.

Neil Warnock has asked for backing that the team deserve, now Vince Alm :bluebird: :bluebird: :bluescarf: :bluescarf:

Wednesday 8th November 2017

VINCE ALM:

Polite request for supporting Cardiff City at the next home fixture;

Fully understand there is currently an economic downturn in the UK due to many factors, and Christmas is just around the corner, Money is tight, some people work weekends, some people just enjoy champagne football, and not the winter grind of accumulating points in the championship!

BUT :D
We have one home game in November against Brentford Saturday 18th 3pm kick off. If you book or purchase a ticket before the 18th November you can pay as little as £18 for an adult and £5 for a child :thumbright:

Warnock has the team playing with energy and passion even if the performances are not always great they put a shift in; we have a catchment area of over 1 million people 340,000 in Cardiff alone 250,000 in RCT area, hopefully we can get a crowd in access of 20,000 for the Brentford game?

Lets show Neil Warnock, his management team, and the squad we appreciate the job they have done so far this season and we fully back them on their attempt to get us promoted. :thumbright:

Personally I think they deserve the support lets give them a taste of what we can do. :bluebird:
Thank you for your anticipated support.

These are my own personal views, on my personal Facebook page, and may not be the view of Cardiff City Supporters club or its members.

Based on current form I have a feeling Brentford may just sneak a win. Would'nt be the first time they have messed things up for us.

Dean Smith’s side currently occupy 12th place in the Sky Bet Championship table, having only lost four of their 16 games thus far – leaving them nine points behind the Bluebirds.

The Bees’ have produced some very impressive displays of late, with victories over the likes of Leeds United and Preston North End. Their last defeat was a 3-1 loss at the hands of Norwich City in mid-September.

French forward Neal Maupay has been one of Brentford’s standout players so far in this campaign, scoring six goals in the 19 league and cup appearances he has made.

Ollie Watkins is another who has hit the ground running since his move to the Championship in the summer. Just 21 years of age, the former Exeter City forward has netted six goals in 16 games.

Dean Smith Brentford Manager

Dean Smith has only had two managerial jobs since he retired from playing in 2005. He did take over as a youth coach at Leyton Orient - and was promoted to assistant manager at the end of the 2004/05 season - but claimed his first managerial job at Walsall in 2011.

After spending four years at the Bescot Stadium, the 46 year-old then took over at Brentford in November 2015. He guided the Bees to a ninth place finish in his first six months as Brentford boss.

Cardiff City star Joe Bennett takes to Twitter to give fans boost with fitness update ahead of Brentford clash -

Joe Bennett is fit :thumbright: :bluebird:

But Lee Peltier is serving one match ban after 5 yellow cards.

Thursday 16th November 2017

Cardiff City left-back Joe Bennett has given Neil Warnock a boost by taking to social media to reveal he is over his calf injury.

Bennett has not featured for the Bluebirds since hobbling off with a calf injury against Millwall at the end of October, but he revealed on Twitter that he would be available for selection this weekend for Cardiff's home clash with Brentford.

The 27-year-old had started 12 of Cardiff's opening 14 league matches until his injury against the Lions, which has forced him to miss the 3-1 victory over Ipswich and the disappointing 2-1 Severnside derby defeat.

With right-back Lee Peltier having picked up his fifth booking of the season against Bristol City last time out and a one-match suspension, the return of Bennett comes at a good time for Warnock - with the left-back set to slot straight back into the starting 11 this Saturday.

3-1 City. We have a habit of ending runs (both losing runs and winning runs mind)

Fancy us to step up to the plate again for this one and show our credentials like we did against Leeds.

Brentford full-back Henrik Dalsgaard has been ruled out of his side’s trip to Cardiff City in the Sky Bet Championship on Saturday according to Get West London.

The 28-year-old Roum born defender joined The Bees from Belgian Pro League club Zulte Waregem in the summer for an undisclosed fee and the player has gone on to make 17 appearances in all competitions for the West Londoners.

Dalsgaard picked up a heel injury in the 2-0 victory over Birmingham City at St Andrews at the start of the month and the player missed the 3-1 victory over Leeds United as well as Denmark’s 2018 FIFA World Cup Play-Off matches against the Republic of Ireland during the international break.

It has now been reported that Dalsgaard continues to be sidelined with his foot problem and the player will not be fit to return to action against Cardiff City at the Cardiff City Stadium on Saturday. It is unknown when the full-back will be ready to make his comeback for Dean Smith’s side although it it thought that the Dane is also likely to miss Tuesday’s clash with Burton Albion at Griffin Park.

Dalsgaard started his career in his homeland with AaB where he went on to become a first team regular before going on to win the Belgian Cup with Zulte Waregem.

Spot on Sam, it's the only Saturday 3pm home game in November and as you say until 23rd December, the moaners say the reason why the attendances are low are because there's not enough of these, so surely a bumper home crowd :thumbright:

' CARDIFF CITY HAVE SEVEN PLAYERS OUT '

NEIL WARNOCK:

"I don’t think we’ll be doing much in January. The main thing is to get all the lads who are injured back to fitness. If we can get everyone back to fitness we have a squad good enough at this level".

"We have seven lads injured or suspended and it’s a big loss, but it shows how far we’ve come that we have the back up and still have a decent team."

"Although it’s disappointing it gives opportunities to others. If it had happened 12 months ago we would be with the kids now. All credit to everybody because we’ve got a decent squad that can cater for most situations deadline to deadline."

"When I was at Sheffield United we had four centre-backs injured in the space of a week, you can get anomalies like that. That’s what can happen with the window."

On Dean Smith and Brentford

NEIL WARNOCK:

"Brentford are the best team form-wise, the only side with more crosses and shots than us which shows you the kind of attacking team they are. I like Dean Smith, a good young manager. He gets on with business even when he loses players, he signed a lad from Exeter I was interested in and we couldn’t afford what Brentford paid."

"They’ve picked players up and have a good team spirit, a bit like us. It will be a good game, no disrespect to Millwall, they’ll try and win the game."
