TEAMTALK:

Premier League promotion hopefuls Cardiff City are set to announce the signing of former Watford striker Ogo Obi.

The 19-year-old left The Hornets in the summer, and has had a number of trials including with fellow Championship side Bolton.

However, TEAMtalk can exclusively reveal that the Bluebirds are set to hand Obi – who was a target for Manchester United when he a schoolboy – a permanent deal.

I remember a recent interview where Warnock mentioned strengthening the under 23’s to give him options when we have bad injuries etc. As he felt our under 23’s have been poor standard. 2 or 3 key signings and strengthen our youngsters and I’d be more than happy.

Cardiff in for Ogo?

We’re only four days into the January window and Cardif have already been linked to a number of strikers.

Cameron Jerome, Diafra Sakho, Ogo Obi... Wait, Ogo who?

The latest rumour doing the round is that Neil Warnock is set to offer former Watford striker Obi a permanent deal.

The 19-year-old left the Hornets in the summer and has had a number of trials since, including one at Championship club Bolton.

Tomlin poor? I seriously wonder! When we start using him properly I believe he can have a vital role.

Should Cardiff target Cotterill?

Speaking of David Cotterill, should Neil Warnock be chasing the free agent as he looks to keep Cardiff’s promotion bid from derailing any further?

The 30-year-old would provide some desperately-needed competition to current wingers Junior Hoilett and Nathaniel Mendez-Laing, with both struggling to reproduce their form from earlier in the season.

Even on a bad day I'd prefer Hollett to Cotterill

Liam Feeney is due to return to Blackburn Rovers today as his short-term loan spell comes to an end, but it appears increasingly likely that the midfielder will stay with Cardiff until the end of the season.

Blackburn boss Tony Mowbray has been speaking to the media about Feeney and it seems as though an extension to the loan deal will be agreed within the coming few days.

We seem very inactive, is this a sign that very little addition will be added to our current squad, I understand the FFP rules but surely if Tan is serious about a strong promotion challenge he should be a little looser on the purse strings for what NW wants and what City desperately need at the moment. :bluebird:

I think we have to throw him in there and see what he can do, or should I say what we know he can do, if he is not playing regularly he is not going to gel into his role. I think it is time he starts including a full 90 minutes on Saturday and also against Sunderland, if we arent going to use him at all then get rid of him and use the pennies to get someone else in who they are going to use.

So we should wait until the end of the month is it?, 3 games in January that's 9 points.....can we afford to drop those points with no additions to the squad

Cotterill not for me! :(

Dissed Cardiff City many years ago and stated he would never play for them. Genuinely no better than anything we already have and his having had more clubs than Ian Woosnam says something. In fact, it says a lot; a bit like having more than one name on here! ;) :laughing6:

19 games-6 goals

same sort of ratio as ML, Ralls, Hoilett and statistically behind Zohore, Ward and Bogle

So my question is, does he add anything to us?

Cardif eyeing deal for McGoldrick

By Head of Sport / Media Wales

Friday 4th Jan 2018

It was the ‘Nigerian Messi’ Ogo Obi being linked with Cardiff earlier, and now it is Ipswich striker David McGoldrick who is reportedly sparking Warnock’s interest.

Cardiff have apparently shown an interest, along with Birmingham, for the 30-year-old striker, who deal at Portman Road runs out at the end of the season.

The Republic of Ireland striker had eight goals in 15 games before picking up a nasty groin injury in November.
