Cardiff City are set to battle it out with SPL giants Rangers for the signature of Hamilton youngster Greg Docherty.
The 21-yea-old has impressed in the 25 appearances he’s made already for Hamilton this season and he has attracted interest from bigger clubs as a result.
A number of reports claim Neil Warnock and Cardiff City are one of the teams interested but they are not alone.
Rangers are also said to be interested and they may have the edge with Docherty being a Scottish youth international.
Cardiff City are looking to boost their midfield following four straight defeats and a number of injuries.
However, it’s unlikely they will splash out on youngster Docherty, concentrating their funds on an a more experienced midfielder to replace the injured Aron Gunnarsson.
Having said that, the Bluebirds will be able to offer a shot at Premier League football this season, being placed third currently, and could offer a better contract than their Scottish counterparts.
Both teams are said to be tracking Docherty at this stage with neither team making an offer just yet.
Hamilton will be desperate to keep hold of Docherty, currently sitting ninth place in the SPL, just five points above bottom.
