Cardiff City are believed to be close to completing their first major signing of the January transfer window.

The Bluebirds are understood to be on the verge of sealing a loan deal for Norwich City forward Yanic Wildschut, and Neil Warnock is thought to be confident of wrapping up the formalities of the move in time for the visit of Sunderland this weekend.

Is he really a major signing? Sounds a bit desperate!

Personally I think everything changed after 4 defeats in a row.

To be fair Warnocks never really had much money and survives mainly on free agents / loan players.

Sounds a good signing if it happens, need a. It more pace.
Although we lost 4 in a row, not much changed, only 2 points off auto...

It was reported that he cost Norwich £7m but the real figure is believed to be nearer £4m

Still not an unsubstantial sum :thumbright:

I have no knowledge of this guy we're signing but it's pretty obvious that this is a bit more than a "back-up" signing given the money he's previously gone for.

This is not somebody who's looking for a last pay cheque. He seems to have fallen foul of sigining for a manager who then gets sacked and then doesn't fit in with the new system.

Whether he is good, bad, or indifferent he won't come cheap in terms of a possible loan fee and wages so it has to be regarded as a significant signing on the face of it. Let's see how he does :ayatollah: :bluebird:

Whether he turns out to be any good or not the next 4 months will tell..However, what I do know is that this is a SIGNIFICANT signing and will cost a hell of a lot of money in wages/loan fees etc...not many other Championship teams would be able to afford this guy

May not be a "marquee" signing but could turn out to be a very important one

Lets get this chant going :laughing5:

Wildschut, you make my heart sing
You make everything groovy, Wildschut
Wildschut, I think I love you
But I wanna know for sure
Come on and hold me tight
I love you :bluescarf:

He hasn't done a lot for Norwich. We don't really need another winger . Warnock claimed he would announce the signing of a quality centre midfielder(our priority). As I say, all a bit desperate!

no he never, Warnock stated he was after a quality midfielder. But people got to realise, you are not going to get a player who is first team or near first team early in Jan. Its always the same. IF they are any worth to teams, they wont get rid without a replacement.
Its the same every year, nothing new.

He hasn't done much at Norwich because HIS strengths do not match Norwich's way of playing. He is perfect for our game.

As for the midfield priority. Ever thought that the midfield was fine when our flyers were ripping defences apart?

The poor performance of our wingers put pressure on the midfield. Get in better wingers and the midfield will be fine again.

I remember him playing for Wigan against us at CCS a few years back and him causing us problems, he’s quick, powerful and pacy. He got subbed that day and I was glad to see him go off.

Saw him on TV against someone too and he played upfront, he was excellent that game too but his finishing let him down.

Good signing IMO and puts pressure on NML and Hoilett and also gives us chance to rotate outwide
