Madine update

It looks like Cardiff City are facing a fight if they want to land Bolton striker Gary Madine, with Phil Parkinson once again insisting that he will not be sold.

He told the Bolton News:

“His focus is great and I’d expect it to be. I don’t want to sell him and the chairman is adamant he is not going to sell him, so he’s going to be with us.
“We’re in a dogfight down the bottom, we know that, and there’s quite a few teams in there with us. We need our best players.”

Southampton eyeing up a move for Joe Ralls, as they seek to secure their Premier League status. Ralls, a Hampshire boy, has impressed 'Saints' manager Mauricio Pocchetino but it is thought Neil Warnock will resist any advances for his midfield talisman :thumbright:

Norwich City striker Cameron Jerome is due to have a medical at Derby County on Tuesday ahead of the completion of a £1.5million switch.

Reports on Twitter say that the 31-year-old will have his Rams medical tomorrow, after the Canaries accepted the promotion chasers’ bid – which would rise to £2m if the Rams are promoted.

Jerome has scored 42 goals in 138 matches since joining from Stoke for a deal reportedly worth around £1.5m in August 2014, helping City to promotion, scoring at Wembley in the play-off final victory over Middlesbrough in May 2015.

Cardiff, Birmingham and Fulham have also been linked with interest in signing the former England Under-21 international during the current transfer window but it seems the Rams have won the race for his signature.

Cardiff City are reportedly interested in making a loan move for Liverpool midfielder Marko Grujic as Neil Warnock looks to add to his side in the January window.

According to ESPN, Cardiff have shown an interest in the Serbian midfielder, who signed for the Reds in January 2016.

The Bluebirds are currently thin on the ground in midfield, with Aron Gunnarsson and Craig Bryson both currently out with injuries.

And Warnock will be looking to bring in more faces during the window as his side look to secure promotion to the Premier League.

Bournemouth Premier League player Lewis Grabban keen on Cardiff move

Journalist Alan Nixon believes the forward, who’s been heavily linked with a move to the Cardiff City Stadium, is growing increasingly keen on ensuring a deal can be done.

Taking to Twitter, he said:

“Cardiff. Seems Lewis Grabban is swaying towards the move too. Having a real go here.”

Adam Forshaw linked again

17/01/18

Both GetWestLondon and the Yorkshire Post have linked Adam Forshaw with a move to Cardiff today.

The 26-year-old was linked with a move to the Welsh capital last week, but both outlets claim the Bluebirds have maintained an interest and are willing to meet the £2.5m asking price.

However, they could well face competition from Leeds, who are also understood to be keen on securing a deal.

If I’m honest I’d like it to see him go for the young striker Tyler Roberts - and not because he’s welsh I think he’s got a bright future and can’t see him getting a game at West Brom considering they play Robson- Kanu and Rondon ahead of him

Cardiff City have successfully sealed their second signing of the January transfer window, after confirming Liverpool's Marko Grujic as a loan addition.

The prodigious Serbian midfielder, 21, joins Norwich City winger Yanic Wildschut as a new arrival this month with Neil Warnock wanting to supplement his squad with one more player.

That player could well be a striker, with Bournemouth's Lewis Grabban and Bolton Wanderers frontman Gary Madine both believed to be on the Bluebirds' radar.

One player who looks to be moving elsewhere is Middlesbrough midfielder man Adam Forshaw, who looks close to sealing a move to Leeds United, according to reports.

As Cardiff prepare for upcoming games against Sheffield Wednesday and Manchester City, it's all about finding that last piece of the puzzle for Warnock and his transfer team.

Leeds hijack Forshaw deal

18/01/18

First up on the agenda is a bit of news on Middlesbrough Adam Forshaw - and it doesn’t make for good reading if you’re a Bluebirds fan.

It looks like Leeds have hijacked a bid by Cardiff and secured the services of the midfielder at the 11th hour, with Forshaw set to have a medical in Yorkshire today.

Neil Warnock had been keen on Forshaw despite signing Marko Grujic yesterday afternoon but Forshaw seems to favour a move to Elland Road.

Not sure about this one. It’s a bit of a coincidence that this happens as soon as Grujic signs. I’d guess that once Warnock got one of his targets that was it.

Forshaw to Leeds delay

Although the Adam Forshaw to Cardiff deal looks dead, for some reason we’re still awaiting confirmation that the midfielder is, as has been widely reported, joining Leeds United. No confirmation from the West Yorkshire club yet. The last we heard was that Forshaw was having a medical at Thorp Arch, the Leeds training ground.

Isn't it odd how we only let Emyr Huw's join Ipswich once he took a (creditable) pay cut because Ipswich couldn't afford his wages; yet now we're apparently reluctant to pay McGoldrick's wages for the opposite reason! :?

Neil Warnock said he was talking to 'one or two' and McGoldrick appears to be one of those, although that doesn't fit me with excitement and I ope it doesn't mean the Grabban deal is sliding away! :(

i think the situation is different..Huws wasnt getting a look in here ,we wanted his wages or at least a chunk of them off our books and Ipswich knew that..on big wages and with no other club interested they had the upper hand...did look like it wasnt going to happen at all with Cardiff not prepared to subsidise wages by more than 40%..and Ipswich not prepared to pay more than 40%, so yes credit to him for taking the gamble..
where as McGoldrick is a first team player ..an asset that Ipswich probably dont want to get rid of without compensation...and the player, like most players involved in deals involving transfer fees will probably be wanting a better contract /signing on fees etc...
id prefer Grabban too. just dont see it having legs for financial reasons.
