Cardiff City's promotion rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers and Aston Villa are also said keen on the goalkeeper.
According to the Sunday Mirror [page 67], Cardiff City are leading the chase to sign Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson, who was linked with moves to clubs including the Bluebirds' promotion rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers and Aston Villa earlier in the campaign.
Henderson has impressed on loan to Shrewsbury Town this season, helping the Shropshire side to second place against expectation.
However, the 21-year-old's United contract is due to expire in the summer, as reported by the Daily Mirror last October - alerting as many as 14 clubs in England's top two divisions and abroad. And according to its sister paper, it is Cardiff who are on pole to secure his services.
Cardiff continue to be sandwiched between Wolves and Aston Villa after Saturday's meeting between the latter two clubs, which ended in an emphatic 4-1 win for Villa.
of Wolverhampton Wanderers in action during the Sky Bet Championship match between Aston Villa and Wolverhampton Wanderers at Villa Park on March 10, 2018 in Birmingham, England.
However, Neil Warnock's are now only three points behind Wolves, the Championship leaders, with the Villans trailing by four.
So who is most in need of Henderson's services?
It's probably not Wolves, who currently employ John Ruddy and Will Norris in the youngster's position - as well as the recovering Carl Ikeme.
Meanwhile, Cardiff [Brian Murphy] and Aston Villa [Sam Johnstone, Mark Bunn] each have goalkeepers who are coming to the end of their contracts.
