Hoping for a good attendance for this one - it's now more important than the Wolves game! Hopefully 25k! I'm not sure it's difficult to predict this one - my head says a draw and my heart says 3-1 win to us. I also just realised the a friend of mine has been to 6 matches with me this season and not seen one win yet! :o they did Fulham away, Millwall home, Preston home, Bristol away, QPR away and Wolves home! Don't worry they aren't coming again this season lol I've band them! :bluescarf:

Would love to see Rallsy back. His box to box energy is fantastic. A dominant presence in midfield, it gives us some nice midfield options and Warnock a headache. Im too nervous to make a prediction but i reckon it’ll be a tight nervy game.......its a Complete clash of styles: forest knock it about vs. our psyicality & direct running. Hope its a good turn out under the floodlights!

Cardiff City can feel promotion inching ever closer, but the race for second place is by no means over just yet.

As the Bluebirds prepare to host Nottingham Forest on Saturday evening, Fulham travel to play-off hopefuls Millwall in a weekend that could decide who follows Wolves into the Premier League 2018/19.

Neil Warnock has a couple of issues to worry about ahead of the Forest clash, namely the injury to Sol Bamba sustained in Cardiff's 2-0 win over Norwich City and whether midfield maestro Joe Ralls will be fit again after a hamstring problem.

The Bluebirds will also want to attract another bumper crowd for the penultimate game of a sensational season.

SKY SPORTS

Cardiff v Nottingham Forest preview: Championship clash live on Sky Sports Football

Promotion-chasing Cardiff hope influential defender Sol Bamba will make Nottingham Forest's Sky Bet Championship visit on Saturday night, live on Sky Sports.

Bamba was forced off in the first half of last weekend's win at Norwich after tweaking his groin but has returned to training. On loan duo Jamie Ward and Armand Traore are ineligible to play against their parent club.

Joe Ralls and Jazz Richards are both nearing full fitness but may have to wait until Tuesday's trip to Derby to be involved.

Forest could include striker Daryl Murphy after a month out with a calf problem. But goalkeeper Costel Pantilimon is a doubt after missing a few days of training through what has been described as a "personal issue", and Greek youngster Stefanos Kapino is standing by to make his debut.

Joe Worrall (knee) and David Vaughan (ankle) are definitely out. Lee Tomlin, who joined Forest on loan from Cardiff in January, is unable to play against his parent club.

Opta stats

Cardiff have won seven of their last eight league matches against Forest, drawing the other.

Nottingham Forest have only picked up one point from their last five league visits to Cardiff (W0 D1 L4) since a 2-0 win in November 2010.

Nottingham Forest have conceded a league-high 24 goals via set-pieces (inc. penalties) this season - 12 of which have come from corners, another division-most.

Cardiff vs N Forest

April 21, 2018, 7:30pm

Live on Sky Sports Football HD

Junior Hoilett has provided 11 assists in league competition this season, as many as he made in his previous four campaigns combined (122 apps, incl. play-offs).

Cardiff's victory over Norwich last time out was their 25th in the Championship this season - their joint-most wins in a single season in the second tier alongside 2012-13 (a season in which they won the title).

Forest have failed to score in 18 different league games this season - only Birmingham and Burton (both 20) have done so more often.

Prutton's prediction

Despite all the pressure from Fulham, Cardiff are still in a position where if they win all their remaining games then they'll secure automatic promotion, and you can bet your life that Neil Warnock would have taken this position if he was offered it at the start of the season.

Nottingham Forest got a couple of desperately-needed goals and a win against Ipswich last Saturday to ease some of the frustration that was building there, but Cardiff will have too much for them. Home win.

David Prutton predicts: 2-0 (11/2 with Sky Bet)

All the team news and match facts as Cardiff City look to maintain grip on automatic promotion against Nottingham Forest
By Joshua Slack

    Saturday 21st April (19:45)

    Venue: Cardiff City Stadium

    Referee: Peter Bankes

    TV: Sky Sports Football

Cardiff City will look to back-up their impressive win over Norwich City at Carrow Road when hosting Nottingham Forest in front of the TV cameras on Saturday evening.

The Bluebirds saw off the challenge of Norwich City last weekend as late goals from Kenneth Zohore and Junior Hoilett saw Neil Warnock’s men move back up to second-place.

However, Fulham’s 3-0 win over Millwall last night means that the Bluebirds require a win to move back above the Cottagers.

It is Cardiff’s duty to now see the challenge out and earn promotion back to the Premier League for the first time in four years – and three more wins in the Sky Bet Championship would secure that.

This is a massive opportunity for the Bluebirds, and it is important they don’t endure anymore slip-ups and Warnock knows the importance of these next four games.

Nottingham Forest have had a torrid run of form on the road iof late and have recorded just two wins over the course of their last 10 games on the road, and Cardiff should look to take full advantage of this on Saturday evening.

Cardiff have excellent form against Nottingham Forest, too. They have gone eight games unbeaten against the Reds and have won seven of the last eight meetings between the two sides.

You will have to go back to 2012 for the last time Forest beat the Bluebirds as goals from Daniel Ayala, Billy Sharp and Andy Reid handed the Reds victory.

Cardiff have shown some incredible spirit on occasions this season and only Fulham have leveled the Bluebirds for goals scored in injury time over the course of the season.

Both have managed seven goals in the dying seconds and this could be decisive in the Championship promotion race come the end of the season.

This a game where Cardiff cannot afford to underestimate at Forest at any costs. They don’t have anything to play for as such apart from pride, but they certainly have players who can pose the Bluebirds problems at the back.

The state of form for both sides heading into tonight’s crucial clash at the Cardiff City Stadium. (Source: kick-off.co.uk)
Barrie McKay has provided to be their most creative outlet and was a target for the Bluebirds in the summer – the Scott has scored five times and chipped in with seven assists in 26 appearances this season.

Another player Cardiff will need to keep close tabs on is attacking midfielder Joe Lolley. The 25-year-old has been in fine form of late and put in a man of the match display in the Reds last encounter as they defeated Ipswich Town 2-1 at home following two last-gasp goals.

Lee Tomlin has made 12 appearances for Forest on-loan from the Bluebirds and has three goals and two assists since his January move to the City Ground.

Peter Bankes has been named as the referee this evening. Bankes took charge of proceedings when the Bluebirds beat Forest 2-0 away from home earlier on this season.

He also took charge of Cardiff City’s 3-2 home win over Birmingham City and has produced 104 yellow cards and five red cards in just 28 Championship games this season.

If Cardiff are serious about promotion, they need to ensure they keep winning, and they could make a big statement on Saturday evening ahead of their tough re-arranged clash against Derby County on Tuesday evening at Pride Park, which is no doubt another monumental game for Warnock’s men.

Team News

Jazz Richards has returned to full training for the Bluebirds and Neil Warnock has also confirmed that midfield kingpin Joe Ralls is fit, and he could feature against Forest this evening for the first time since the 1-0 win over Bristol City in February.

Jamie Ward is unavailable due to being on loan from tonight’s opponents.

Youngster Ben Brereton looks likely to lead the line for the visitors. Lee Tomlin is unable to play due to being loaned out from the Bluebirds. Winger Ashkan Dejagah is a long-term absentee having had an operation on his knee.

Sunday morning at 12 is ok for most, though people who have young kids who play football wouldn't be able to make it. Saturday night at 745 is not ok for me, no matter who the opposition is.
