Cardiff making a quick move to reunite with their 27-year-old former star would be a brilliant step

According to a report from Sky Sports, Jordon Mutch has left Crystal Palace with immediate effect after his contract was terminated by mutual consent, six months prior to its expiry.

Jordon Mutch, 27, had returned to Crystal Palace after a spell on loan at Vancouver Whitecaps, who last month refused an option to turn his temporary move into a permanent one. And now that the midfielder has become a free agent, he has already got an admirer in Cardiff City, claims Sky Sports.

Jordon Mutch enjoyed the best season of his career in Cardiff City colours in the 2013/14 season despite the club suffering relegation from the Premier League. The midfielder netted seven goals for the Bluebirds, although he couldn’t save the club from the jaws of relegation under then manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Now that the 27-year-old is available on a free transfer, should Cardiff re-sign the player? Without any shadow of a doubt, yes!

Cardiff are currently 17th in the League table, two points off the drop zone and with a -22 goal difference, having struggled to find the back of the net. The Bluebirds lack quality in their attack and with Gary Madine being loaned out, Neil Warnock needs to take a dip in the transfer market to add a couple of attackers to his squad.

Warnock shouldn’t bother much about searching for players as he has Jordon Mutch available now. While Mutch made just 40 appearances in four years at Crystal Palace and had a not so productive spell in the MLS with Vancouver Whitecaps, the Cardiff fans will welcome him with open arms.

The Derby-born ace was a fan favourite at Cardiff City stadium, impressing with his skill, technique and goalscoring ability. For Cardiff City, he emphasises everything they need in a midfield target – experience, quality and competitiveness.

Moreover, playing in an advanced role in the midfield or on the wing makes Mutch responsible for moving the play forward and he does that with utmost comfort.

At 27, Mutch still has his prime years ahead of him and could be an ideal acquisition for Warnock’s Cardiff. Many supporters will feel he has unfinished business at the club, with the player enjoying the best spell of his career at the club.

Not to mention, for someone who is available for absolutely free, the transfer would make Mutch a signing of real significance for the South Wales club.

No idea who Rohan Sengupta is but what a load of rubbish. He is exactly what we don't need.
