Agree Annis.

I’m not Grealish’s biggest fan, but no need for this. Some football fans are laughing about it?? Yet everyone went mental when Cantona got his own back on a fan.

That Birmingham bloke will probably do time for it, and rightly so.

Totally agree Ned, I hope he does.

A man has been arrested on suspicion of common assault and pitch invasion after he ran onto the Emirates Stadium pitch following Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's penalty during Arsenal's win over Manchester United on Sunday.

Football needs to calm down and more stringent rules on players and managers ect ect on their goal celebrations, not tfat it gad anything to do with what happened but They are getting fans involved in their celebrations with subsequent consequences! After grealish scored he went into crowd result a steward man handled grealish and another player who got rather angry! The steward was then escorted away by police alongside a villa fan!
Whilst todays incident was bad now grealish is giving brum fans the big i am on social media not exactly bright behaviour considering the events earlier!

I thought that Grealish did well considering, he could have easily retaliated to the fan.

If I was Grealish, I know I’d be tempted to have a pop back myself.

More of a slight shove really, but of course he went down as if he'd been shot - probably thinking a player had touched him and wanting a penalty .
You can't condone this sort of thing, but I must say ...if ever anyone wanted punching ....

You’d define that as a ‘slight shove’? When have you ever clenched your fist and swung your arm to ‘slightly shove’ anything?

Well when I was that age to be honest that would hardly have been considered a shove. Perhaps we could call it an attempted bitch slap ? There was no weight in it even if it'd connected.
I mean, as I said,we can't condone the behaviour but it wasn't exactly a vicious assault.
Since we're on the subject, I find it very very strange that young fit men on a football pitch go down when they get slightly touched - I know they're putting it on to try and get penalties and so on, but why does anyone, especially referees, take them seriously ?
You'd think a professional athlete would be able to take a bit of a knock without it effecting them much. Mind you, I did once hit Lou Macarri , ( after he tried to hit me by the way and not on a football field), and he did actually have the upper body strength of a girl, so maybe my assumption is wrong.

West Midlands Police

West Midlands Police have arrested a man following an attack on an Aston Villa player at the Second City derby today (Sunday 10 March).

A pitch invader punched Villa's Jack Grealish in the head during the first half of the match at St Andrews this afternoon.

A 27-year-old man was promptly arrested on suspicion of encroachment onto the pitch and assault and remains in police custody for questioning.

Match commander, Superintendent Nick Rowe, said: “An attack on a player is completely unacceptable and outrageous.

"The vast majority of people were well behaved but unfortunately the occasion has been marred by this.

"We currently have a man in custody for questioning and will be working with Birmingham City Football Club as we fully investigate what happened."

A comprehensive policing operation was put in place at the fixture to successfully reduce the risk of large-scale disorder.

There were four arrests for suspected assault or violent disorder offences in total.

A small number of objects were thrown at officers outside the ground following the game but no-one was injured and enquiries are on-going.

A steward was spoken to in the aftermath of the goal but no offence has been reported at this stage; while the force will also be reviewing complaints around offensive social media posts.

Some road closures and restrictions were in operation to assist in enabling supporters to leave the ground as quickly as possible.

Supt Rowe added: "I would like to thank people for their co-operation and patience during the day.

"We fully understand these road restrictions would have caused some inconvenience. It wasn't a decision we took lightly but was considered necessary to avoid the risk of major disorder."

I agree. Coward punches should get double the punishment as you could die being punched in the back of the head without knowing its coming. Like you say bullerlever, it’s a good job the fan was a useless melt and the punch didn’t connect properly. Terrible scenes regardless of what people light think about Grealish or Villa.

He posted a picture of him celebrating the goal on Twitter, with the caption "The cream always rises". I don't see how that is winding them up, even taking into account that most of them are brain dead neanderthals. I think that it's widely accepted that Alan is a bit of a drama queen.

I didn't think for a second that he is a liar. its more how people see things, all I had seen was Grealish posting a pic of him celebrating with the words. the cream always rises.. thought PA had seen something other than that. as its a bit of a stretch saying that is going on social media escalating things and winding fans up.

Anybody see the vid of the steward kicking Grealish when he was celebrating the goal, the steward was an absolute bellend Brum fan and wanted a bit of the action, he also turned to Hourinhane and had a pop at him then he got led away by police, hope this crackpot gets a punishment for it, the old tw*t

Postby Forever Blue » Mon Mar 11, 2019 12:59 pm

Birmingham City fan Paul Mitchell has pleaded guilty to assaulting Aston Villa midfielder Jack Grealish during Sunday's derby match.

SKY NEWS

Vaughn Whistance, Mitchell's lawyer, told the court: "He cannot explain what came over him yesterday morning. His initial foolish intention was to just go onto the pitch and whip up the crowd."

Aston Villa players tried to intervene as Mitchell was taken off the pitch
Mr Whistance said that Mitchell's family had been receiving abuse online after the incident and had been forced to move.

Birmingham City has already said Mitchell will be banned for life from their stadium.

He will be sentenced later today.

Paul Mitchell, 27, entered the guilty plea at a packed out Birmingham Magistrates’ Court this morning following the shocking scenes on Sunday.

His defence solicitor told the court how Mitchell's wife and children "have had to move out of Birmingham in fear of death" following threats over the incident.

Mind you, I did once hit Lou Macarri , ( after he tried to hit me by the way and not on a football field), and he did actually have the upper body strength of a girl, so maybe my assumption is wrong.

was a cowardly punch from behind and Grealish was fortunate as intent was there. thats what it was called outside of your dream world 50 years ago and still today...

Well, there you go then. It's perhaps a matter of concern because the nutter got onto the field and it was therefore possible that a more serious assault could have happened . It wasn't in itself a serious assault though and if you think that was an act of serious violence you must have led a sheltered life, which I'm glad about. It wasn't a punch though, it was a flailing swing with no force and only the weight of his arm behind it - and it missed anyway !
That wouldn't have put a normal man down and I think Grealish thought another player had bumped into him and went into full drama mode. Again, I don't condone it because it's public disorder, but a nasty assault it wasn't .

I mean, as I said,we can't condone the behaviour but it wasn't exactly a vicious assault.

nothing to do with sheltered lives { i know you like to deflect this at every opportunity to mask your own life in the basement } .but everything to do with intent and right and wrong which clearly you need outside influence to grasp.
Grealish was fortunate in that the idiots left arm actually makes contact first pushing him away from idiots right handed punch..

if you do not know anyone who has been seriously injured or worse by one of these cowardly attacks and have your news papers censored good for you.

but did this clown attack Grealish from behind with the intention of harm ? if yes its nasty..

Re: UPDATED: FAN PLEADS GUILTY ASSAULT & PITCH INVASION /VID

Paul Mitchell, 27, of Rubery was arrested and charged after entering the field of play in the early stages of the game at St Andrew's and hitting Grealish around the back of the head and neck.
Mitchell pleaded guilty on both counts and sentence will be passed on Monday afternoon.

His solicitor told Birmingham Magistrates' Court: "He cannot explain what came over him yesterday morning. His initial foolish intention was to just go on to the pitch and whip up the crowd."

Prosecutor Jonathan Purser told the court Grealish felt lasting pain after the incident but had suffered no substantial injury from a punch to the right side of his jaw.

In a statement read into the court record by Mr Purser, the Aston Villa captain said: "I cannot help but feel how lucky I was in this incident. It could have been so much worse had the supporter had some sort of weapon."

Mitchell was dragged off the pitch after being taken to the ground by a combination of Birmingham and Villa players, as well as stewards who followed him on to the pitch.

Birmingham promptly revealed the individual would be banned from their stadium for life and said: "What happened has no place in football or society. Jack is a Birmingham lad and regardless of club allegiance should not have been subjected to this - there are no excuses."

Grealish was able to play on after the attack and went on to score what turned out to be the winning goal as Dean Smith's side prevailed 1-0.
