I dont think I have a single drop of welsh blood in me, but I honestly love Wales and the flag. You know I coach icehockey fulltime, my U21s are amongst the top 4 in Germany, and I recently said in an interview I gave, "I see Cardiff and Wales as my spiritual home." Think that describes my feelings best... was flying the welsh flag today on my landing, too.

I was curious, as I spent 10 years in Germany until 1988, in the British Army!
I used to have to go to Frankfurt on occasion with the Yanks, who as you will know, have a very big base at Frankfurt!
I was based at Rheindahlen (HQ BAOR), Moenchengladbach at the time, where I stayed for 4 years, before being posted to Northern Ireland and then back to Germany (Minden, North Rhein Westfalia)!
We then moved to Luebecke and I spent my last 2 years in Germay at Hannover, as a MT Sgt!

well the yanks are gone from here now. we have a joint military airbase near the rhein-main airport but thats it. Aschaffenburg used to have a huge US facility, too...
you werent supporting Preussen Münster at the time by any chance? remember goingt to see them at frankfurt (FSV) and bumped into a city fan who was in the army who travelled with Preussen.

Pretty certain that I had to go to Aschaffenburg whilst I was based in Rheindahlen, along with a lot of the other American Army bases down south, like Kaiserslautern, Pirmasens & Ramstein!
I used to watch Borussia Moenchengladbach when I was in Rheindahlen and when I wasn't playing myself!
Gladbach used to host a 4 team Pre-Season tournament every Summer and I saw Liverpool play there on many occasions!
I broke my leg playing for Luebecke in 1986, got posted to Hannover and then started to watch Hannover 96 play every home game!
I used to go with a couple of Army colleagues and we had a great day out, as we used to go to the Redlight area after their games and saw some very unusual sights!
