Cheltenham festival Betting

Postby oohahhPaulMillar » Mon Mar 11, 2019 2:02 pm

I look forward to the festival every year, but in 20 odd years of betting I can’t remember ever having a winning day. I usually get a bollocking and lose a fortune

Has anyone ever won big?? Had a Yankee up?? or a near miss on a big payout??

Somebody must have some good stories please share them!!

My brother in law's initials are G Elliot so that's why we have chosen 2 of the horses run by Gordon Elliot :laughing5:

Yes, he's the man now. W. Mullins doesn't send such a big squad like Elliot :ayatollah: I picked W. Mullins' Faugheen as Paisley Park is worth opposing, albeit he's 11 year old now :o

I know the feeling Sneggy..lap of honour if I break even  but every year we have another go

Law of averages says I will win a wad one year..been saying that for the last 20 and never get anywhere near it

I didn't bet anything today, but I would have selected Buveir D'Air, Benie Des Dieux and Ballyward, who all fell! I can safely say today would have been a complete and utter disaster for me!

Gordon Elliott didn't have one winner today. He will probably have several winners by the end of the week - he always does. That's my tip. Good luck all.

Actually it did. They offered £19-50 to cash out which I took then did the last two together. So made a tidy profit. :occasion5:

Just gone for a double today, backed it last night so odds may be a bit different today.

1.30pm - Defi Du Seuil 3/1

3.30pm - Paisley Park 2/1

Looks like a day for the favourites, so it’s just trying to pick out an outsider that suits the ground and will hopefully sneak a place. So for the remaining races I’m going for, all E/W of course:-
15:30 - West Approach
16:10 - Didero Vallis
16:50 - Sancta Simona
17:30 - Treackle Tart

Very happy with that double :thumbright:

Will look at the final day’s racing overnight, not had chance to look yet.

I tend to pick my bets, as I did today with that double. You’ll rarely make money long term if you bet on every race!

Hard day to call.

Only did one bet which is each way on Kemboy for the Gold Cup - up next.

Will have a decent profit either way after this week so got to be happy :thumbright:

Worst Cheltenham in years (for me from a betting point of view). Been quite lucky over the last few years so I guess it had to happen at some point, about £150 down for the week with 2 to go

Agree with that in the main and sound advice but make an exception for Cheltenham, like to have an interest in each race, only comes round once a year.

Congrats on you're double BTW.
