We missed Robertson

Sat Nov 02, 2024 5:39 pm

Brilliant win today, but it wasn't a brilliant performance for the majority of the game.

That's because we lost the midfield battle.

I said this week that we would miss Robertson when he's not available and so it proved for most of today.

I hope he's back for Luton.

But buzzing with the late win :bluebird:

Siopis did have a decent game but we would have had more control of the midfield with Robertson.

Siopis is decent without the ball but when he has the ball, struggles to make an impact.

Have consistently said that Robertson is our best player and we really missed him today. He also helps Colwill, who will always play better when Robertson is also playing - they just both have the quality and understanding.

How did he link with Turnbull today?

Siopsis, Ralls are work horses, where Robinson is a creative dangerous player as well as being a worker..

Siopsis cannot shoot?

Both played really well and after they scored they both went up a gear. Played some really good football

That’s good to hear. Good to have options.

Colwill is always criticised for not running back and lack of tackling but Siopis never criticised for not making assists, shooting or scoring goals

Riza said it’s just a tight hamstring, nothing serious. Definitely missed him in the middle today.

Did he hint if he was ok for Wednesday?

It sounds like he could be, but I doubt he’d risk it.

Agreed, he's brilliant at playing the ball through the defensive lines quickly which gives players like Colwill and Tanner more space when they recieve the ball.

I thought Siopis played well but he's much safer with his passes which slows our attacking down.

Absolutely right.

Robertson offers so much more - a greater range of accurate passing, an attacking mindset and a goal threat.

Thought Siopis did okay today - neat enough but he's never going to create anything and I don't think I've ever heard so many shouts of "Don't shoot!" when he got the ball on the edge of the penalty area!

And that don’t shoot was just from riza. Even more from the stands.

Thought Sio did a fantastic job, most of the match he and Dimi were helping cover RB, also going forward we didn’t have any targets in the box as at times we were playing with 3 LW’s.

We need to start with a recognised striker wether it’s Robbo or Reindorf
