Club Connections

We sold Mark McGuinness to Luton this summer.

Alfie Doughty also had a spell on loan with us.

Rival Players

Liam Walsh is an ex Swansea player.

The Opposition's Manager

Rob Edwards was appointed Luton manager in November 2022 and he took them to the Premier League.

Despite being relegated, he was given a lot of credit for how they did in the top tier.

He had previously got Forest Green promoted to League One for the first time ever.

Opposition Dangerous Players

Elijah Adebayo score ten goals in the Premier League last season.

Alfie Doughty takes all their set pieces and is very dangerous.

Head To Head

We have lost three of our last five meetings with them.

We have actually lost all three of the last three head to heads.

I’m going for a 1-1 draw here.

They are in a false position in the league I feel.

A lot of quality in that squad, a good manager and we are away.

If we can come away with a point I’d be happy.

Pressure is on them, massively. We're on fire. Away win, comfortable one under the lights. Maybe Rob Edwards' last game in charge of Luton.

Their fans have turned on them, big time.

They are there for the taking, they looked terrible in their last game, a lot of pressure on them.

I watched that game against WBA and they did not come over that good. Perhaps edged the game but were not that impressive. It did feel they had a lot more to give so lets see. They do need to push on else they will end the season in the bottom half which will be extrememly disappointing for them.

Team News -

Alfie Doughty will return to the Luton starting lineup after serving a one-match suspension for five yellow cards last time out.

However, Edwards must decide whether to keep Amari'i Bell in his back three with Tom Holmes also available again after a ban.

Shandon Baptiste and Jacob Brown are both options for Luton in midfield and attack respectively after making impacts during the second half versus West Brom.

With Callum Robinson having scored as a substitute versus Norwich, the Republic of Ireland international could be restored to the Cardiff attack.

Chris Willock could be the player to miss out, while Perry Ng will return at right-back after serving a one-match suspension.

Re: TEAM NEWS: " LUTON TOWN v CARDIFF CITY " MATCH THREAD

Luton boss Rob Edwards was pleased to finally have some decisions to make regarding his team selection when hosting Cardiff City at Kenilworth Road tomorrow evening.

The Hatters were able to welcome back defensive duo Teden Mengi and Amari’i Bell to the starting line-up ahead of Friday night’s 1-1 draw with West Bromwich Albion, midfielder Shandon Baptiste fit enough to play the entire second half as well. Duo Tom Holmes and Alfie Doughty had missed out with one game suspensions picked up in the 3-2 loss against Coventry City, but now those are over, they can also be considered to face the Bluebirds, leaving just Reece Burke, Mads Andersen and Reuell Walters as Town’s trio of absentees, with Burke closing in on his comeback too.

That will be even more important considering Luton then head to Middlesbrough for a 12.30am kick-off on Saturday afternoon, as Edwards said: “The three lads have got through all fine which is good and then we’ve got the two back from suspension. Holmesy had a bit of a tight calf after the game, he played pretty much the full game didn’t he against Cov, so we've been managing that a little bit but he's okay. We’ve got some decisions to make which is good. Of course it helps, especially going into a period where we’re going to have a couple of games in quick succession, so it's important.”

Fair play to Riza and the team, what a turn around.

Another win today and we will be 6 points clear of relegation and only 3 points from play offs.

the thing is luton still have good players, we know as good as anyone in this league form could turn around at any point!

I would love a win but 1 point away from home is always fantastic

i just ask we keep up the good work high press and work rate, if we lose then lose busting a gut and at least trying

Giving away too many free kicks

Dangerous game to play when they have Doughty

Apologies, late in from work…

Looks like a mixed start to the game with the Bluebirds having opportunities but allowing Luton their own chances by giving ‘easy’ ball away; mainly for free kicks

Former Bluebirds McGuiness and Doughty playing with the latter looking more than useful to this point…
