Can't believe I'm saying this

Thu Dec 05, 2024 3:47 pm

.... after nearly 52 years following the City. I AM DONE. There are always more important things in life, for me, being a Christian, and looking after my family.

Football was a release, a fun release. An excitement to I could look forward to.

Vincent until you are gone, I will not return to home games and give you any of my very hard earned cash.

Yes, I am a real supporter, but when the enjoyment has gone, it has gone. Vincent Tan all you have provided is brokenness which I can get without paying for it.

I don't think you'll be the only one...

I'm the same, after this season I won't be renewing unless things change drastically.

The amount of money and time is just worth it anymore, it's not enjoyable.

I understand where you're coming from and it's sad to read.

But my position is unchanged.

We support the club, not the ownership. In a way it will be even more satisfying when he does go, that we would have seen it through.

Your choice. But it’s your club and fellow supporters you’re letting down and hurting more. Not the temporary ownership.

I don’t disagree with your post and I don’t blame you for feeling that way.

Many others will be in the same boat.

Loads of fans stopped caring about City after Tan turned us red and they never came back afterwards.

One thing I will say, is that now is the time where we all need to stand united, for the sake of our club.

Supporting the club doesn’t mean supporting Tan.

Support the club not the regime. Most on here have seen a lot worse yet they're still here, why give up now.

well said welshman in ca. loads of our supporters remember the year we finished 91st in the league. I didn't walk away then as many others didn't either, our position now is much better than it was then . support the club not the regime.

I feel exactly the same 50 years
And never felt so cheesed off.
We have seen some tough times
But we had passion.
That has. Beenn ripped out of us

You are spot on. I have a theory why some think this ownership is worse than quite clearly previous ones. But I’m going to keep it to myself, which is so unlike me. lol.

I too was there during the Div 4 years. Crowds dipping below 2000.

Back then we did what we could with our resources. We knew we were rubbish a d our expectations were set accordingly.

Now? We are miles away from doing what we can within our resources. Our club has grown substantially and only one man doesn't see our potential.

I'll still enjoy my away trips, as they have always been a great day out. Inside the CCS is one of the most depressing feelings at the moment.

Me too.
Whatever the division, I’ll be there.
Totally understand peoples feelings though.

I'm not a christian.
I've followed City for 64 years and will keep on doing so.

Some great responses here and good to see the majority are standing by their club and not the temporary custodian

However, having met Jonny, I know exactly where his head is at and appreciate why this whole situation is hurting him, so no criticism whatsoever from me and I appreciate his honesty; rather than than ‘finding’ excuses not to attend that some have done but which are not their reality

Personally, I will not walk away; but is is hard to be motivated whilst we seemingly have little or no tangible ambition; and that gets worse as you get older and look at the many wasted opportunities to ‘progress’ that have gone before :ayatollah:

Chris you've got to have motivation at times especially if it takes an effort to get to games ..... my motivation as dwindled as times gone on ..this saga as really made me seriously think is it worth the time money and effort to go...if wasn't for fact got 2 of best seats in stadium (hate to lose them) I would have given up when bulut was here .... you got yo watch club with expectation yhey will beat opposition at home but now go with feeling can we avoid defeat thats crazy way to be.... I'm just lost as to how tan thinks riza is better idea than he coaches available ?

Re: Can't believe I'm saying this

I feel exactly the same, I’m done with this garbage, I’d rather Tan sell up and we go down than put up with this constant treadmill of clueless managers that don’t deserve to be at our club.

There are countless quality managers out of work who would jump at the chance of managing a big club like us.

I'm 100% with you. I was here before him and I plan to be here after him.

I hate what he has done to our club but I'm looking forward to Saturday and supporting our team :bluescarf:

Bye, bye !!

I’ve been through many an owner in my 50+ years of being a supporter and never let that affect whether I attended or not.

The only thing that did was a period of playing on a Saturday (a glittering career cut short by injury……not !!).

People leaving a club when they are struggling get even less time for me than those glory hunters who appear when we’re doing well.

I don’t like the way things are being handled at the moment. But we’re not under any embargoes, we’re not being taken to court by HMRC, we haven’t been through any Black Friday fire sales of top players and we’re not in League 2 struggling to stay up.

So grow a pair and support your team.

Finally, what the hell has being a Christian got to do with anything seeing as you mentioned it ? People of religion, of any persuasion, don’t have any extra pressures on their time than anyone else !!

Re: Can't believe I'm saying this

You have supported longer than me I am 32 years and I have seen us so much worse.....I would say for me the only time I nearly walked away was the rebrand as it was not a club I recognised. I stayed to campaign the voice and show my proud colours of blue in the stadium. It was hard though.

These days is for me nothing in comparison. It's true my passion and love for city is not what it was....I loved us much more at Ninian Park and in the lower leagues felt much more of a bond and connection.

My advice to anyone is by all means don't go and spend your money as much but don't give up on the club you have supported all these years. I am always very proud to tell my mates and new people I meet that I support Cardiff City Football club.

Tan won't be around forever....Cardiff City FC will live on

I'm explaining that, for a lot of people there is something, whatever it may be, more Important than football that can put football into perspective.

You could have just left quietly no need for the big announcement, are you expecting us to beg you to stay? As mentioned above the glory boys have more respect from me, don’t need flakes near the club trying to destabilise the club any more than it already is.

What a modern-football-ism this is; announcing you're leaving a fan base.

Imagine trying to do this in the 80s or 90s. You'd have to put pen to paper and likely get zero response.

Each to their own though. I was one of the lot who walked away for the red. Everyone has their tipping point. As someone said in another thread, Tan/Riza etc aren't permanent. It'll pass. We're in a dip of the rollercoaster, that's all. Just hold on tight.

53 years for me, hope I be there for another 20 at least.
Seen lots of lows over the years haven’t we, this isn’t nowhere near…
Got to set an example to my Grandkids, never turn your back on your passion.
So I will always support my club, Tan will eventually move on.. then next chapter. will begin.

Supported city since 1975. Stopped for 2 and years when tan replaced the bluebirds with his red dragons.
Most of that time has been shocking under achievement and failure but this has made me cherish the little bits of success even more,

You’re spot on about setting an example and not just giving up because things aren’t exactly like you want them to be. It’s a sign of some in modern society, everything is disposable it’s so sad.

Its understandable and I'll imagine you are not alone.

There are a lot of more important things than this in life. In your case its your faith. At the moment supporting our football team is a faith and that being by keeping it. Thats what we need to do now keep it. keep the faith that something better will come along even if it means us dropping to the bottom of the sea.

I do love these purity threads

I have stopped attending (quietly) several times. All for different reasons that were relevant only to me at the time. Moved away, financial, young kids, played parks football. All were valid to me

During my off periods I was always a Cardiff City fan. I was one of those who turned up for the big games then sculk back to the echo for my updates. I never have supported anyone else.

Sky show half our games then there are other methods. Tan needs to be very careful with his take it or leave it strategy.
He won’t be our owner forever, you only support one team, but it may be from your living room for a while
