Has the FAB Shot Themselves In The Foot

Sat Dec 07, 2024 3:01 pm

I'm just wondering if the FAB, Supporters Club reps have been a bit nieve in publishing their public letter just a few days before their next meeting with representatives of the board etc.

Have they played into the boards hands somewhat and now put themselves on the back foot going into Mondays meeting.

Hindsight is a wonderful atribute to possess, but would it not have been better to say nothing publicably, go into the meeting, challenge MD regarding his commitment from the last meeting where he described communication with fans would be better, clearly this has not been the case, challenge them on why a managers appointment has taken so long thus putting the board and club representatives on the back foot.

For me, I believe the letter would have been better served after the meeting, with the board knowing from the meeting that such a letter would be coming their way, and also circulated amongst the fans that the FAB and Supporters Club represent.

I for one would not be surprised if Mondays meeting is cancelled because of some BS come the 11th hour.

Before anybody suggests I'm on the side of the board, I am certainly not, I just feel as fans we need to be much more switched on to ensuring we don't give them any opportunity to lead the narrative with ourselves.

Absolute bullshit.

The FAB represent the fans. Any letter they send should be made public and rightly was.

Anyone who says otherwise are taking the side of the board, whether they admit to that or not.

At what point did I say the letter shouldn't be made public, my point was about timing

So what was point of this letter ? What did it hope to achieve? Why do it days before a scheduled meeting?
Why feel need to tell all the fans and board what they were going to discuss at meeting on Monday its normally discussed after meeting not before? I repeat what I said other day what as this letter achieved? I know it's achieved more animosity between fans and board was it worth it?

PS
As fans we are allowed to question what fab do without being accused of taking sides?

These fan groups are POINTLESS. Tick box exercise and anything that they say will be ignored by the arrogant narcissistic board.

Agree, a complete waste of time and a corporate box ticking exercise. More deluded fans who want to feel important. Tan doesn't give a toss what the FAB say.

I hope it's the opposite actually and enables them to go on the offensive against the pricks running the club rather than just asking them how far they'd like to bend over like they usually do.

The reply from the club is a clear and deliberate two fingers to EVERY supporter of our club and that includes those who will be sitting on the opposite side of the room to Dalman, Choo and the rest on Monday evening.

I was happy with the letter, felt it represented my feelings well, and also I liked the reminder of a recent broken promise. It should be public it represents us.

And the response actually confirms for me it was the right thing to do and just how out of touch these clowns are. More spin will continue as their response. It’s a repetitive cycle, more broken promises to come, more awful decision making to come.

I'll say it again, the fan groups are there to represent the fans. I have criticised them in the past for not doing that.

But on this occasion they did so I'm not going to blame them.

I would say the letter achieved a lot. By the club's response, it's shown those fans who were on the fence about Tan that he has to go.

No they haven't shot themselves in the foot but they can't win whatever happens so the foot may be the less painful.

I would be very surprised if many of our fanbase disagreed with the content of the letter. I think the issue is what the trust/FAB or more importantly the fanbase believes what their remit is. This is not a board member slot, its pointless anyway as board members barely have a say by the look of it.

It's a works council working out how much milk and tea needs to be bought and whether we can get herbal tea or where the 2025 Christmas party will be held and maybe agree on dress-down Fridays can be every day. It's not for strategy or budgeting.

The trust got the same treatment when they did exactly the same a few years ago.

The well-run clubs take on board the fan's views and try to implement as much as they can. The Billionaire class seem to think their money overwrites any form of discussions and feedback.

Its a bit like big corporations' Environmental policy, they have one, slap some numbers around it, and say look how good we are, whilst doing exactly the same as they always have done.

For me it depends what the process of communication is between the FAB and the club (board).

If the process is to discuss things behind close doors then the club have been given a reason to reject this letter. However, if the platform for discussion it to be treated as an open one then I see no problem in broadcasting the letter before anyone gets around the table.

FAB failed to follow due process so what can they expect as a response?
