Time after time all season hes moving forward with the ball, something that almost feels alien to a lot of our players, and yet there is nothing in front of him, no angles of running, variety of movement or worst of all, no actual bodies to pass to! Who can blame him trying the odd flick or two when things are stale out there, when they come off its often effective. His mindset and style is offensive, give me players like that any day. He is playing in a bang average to poor championship team, with rigid inverted out of puff team mates, who often lack passion and fight let alone wanting to move the ball forward like he does. Without him, it will be sideways football all day long. There aren't other players in the squad like him, he stands out. I dont believe he is a world beater but has so much more to offer than the majority of our squad. Its like hes not allowed a bad game! Many others in that squad should be in the spotlight for criticism not Rubin. And yes there are things about him and his game that need improvement, but this is his first run of games at 10. Many players have had much longer yet are delivering less than him and not being highlighted for it.

The problem is when he's played badly, people don't mention him.

But when he plays well, people overstate how good he was.

If he had put in a performance like Robertson did, this forum would be full of people saying how good he is.

Sometimes feel sorry for the rest of the team because they can play brilliant but will never get the praise Colwill does.

Not in total agreement with that. He gets a slating from some sat around me in the Canton. A few of my mates, the other forums and on here. In fact on here many have said to sell him, send him out on loan and even drop a division. I think Robertson has had a few off days, not mentioned either. As Robertson said, he likes playing with Rubin. I am not totally blinkered by my passion and love for our homegrown and Welsh players, I have often shouted at him for taking the wrong option. I just feel hes a different type of footballer (Robertson excluded) to the rest of the Bulut sideways squad, and I for one am glad to have that option of variety

I'd rather not start a new Rubin thread so got this one out

He is not an attacking midfielder.

IMHO he needs to grow up quickly and be the new Malky season #1 Whitts. Its loads of pressure but he is not a kid anymore. When he drops and gets on the ball he is different gravy, he needs to learn that every pass doesn't need to be amazing but his vision and weight of pass is better than any other player we have had since Whitts, Tomlin or Wilson.

He isn't quick enough for the 10 position in this team we need to inject pace from somewhere. I can't help but think a ballsy manager would experiment with him deeper tasked with carrying the ball out and then finding space. All his best work yesterday was deeper as it always is. Bellers hinted at it last camp as well.

He must be our slowest player? And said long time ago he should concentrate on winning ball before trying step overs or flicks it's far easier to collect ball control it than being fancy something that comes off occasionally...in fact last night after about 20mins he didn't want a pass you could see him gesturing pass it to someone else because he looked fcked .

Ruben is a very skilful player but unfortunately he doesn't impact the game and surely someone else other than N G can step up and take a free kick on the edge of the penalty area . We've gone from negative to avin a go to clueless in a matter of months

On Weds he looked knackered in the first 30 mins really labouring. He’s not our slowest player, Old Robbo everyone loves is.

He’s needs better players around him, teams have sussed is, stop him stop us.

He’s a talent but he needs space.

He is also awful at heading the ball, for his size he can’t jump and is afraid of spoiling his blonde hair.

I don’t think he’s as good as Cullen.
