Early thoughts on Salech?

Tue Jan 21, 2025 10:07 pm

Well, he's already got one more goal than Kanga.

He seems like someone who works hard and will put the pressure on defenders.

Won a lot of the battles he went into.

Missed a good chance but then turned and finished well for the equaliser.

The fact he's got a goal already could be crucial, takes a lot of pressure off him.

Good start.

An improvement on Kanga, early indications are positive. Great to see him score tonight.

Certainly a handful. Hopefully with more game time chances like his header will become goals

Bambi would have been an improvement on Kanga.

Good start.

Plus the header he knocked across goal that the keeper pushed out before Ashford got to it.

Looking good, I was worried about the reports of him playing while in pain after his injury but he seems lively and up for it. Think he needs to settle before we see the full potential but so far so good. He’s not only got the pressure of scoring goals as our main striker but a massive number to fill too

The fact that he went immediately to celebrate with the fans and to celebrate with them after the game shows a passionate commitment to the team. All positives for the future. :ayatollah:

As I said on your other thread..
Yes at last.
I think we have ouselves a player. After all the dud centre forwards we have bought.
Athletic
Challenges
Can head the ball :bluebird: :bluebird:
Closes down
Gets stuck in
And ….
Scores

The kids an absolute beast

Wants to get involved in everything

Doesn’t stop running

Knows where the goal is

Got himself an early goal so he knows he can do it at this level

I predict very big things for him

I’ll go out on a limb, he’s young for a big centre forward, he’s going to be better than Moore, and he’ll go on to better clubs than us

He was busy throughout. Look strong and capable of battling in the Championship. His header was poor from the El Ghazi cross but he poached his goal like a good striker should. He's promising.

Put that miss out of his system showed desire to get another chance. Good donkey work. So far so good

I was so happy when he got the equaliser! Good turn and swivel in the box and the confidence it will give him will be huge. I think milwall away is a tough game for a lad from the Swedish league to adjust to so early but he gave it a good go. He’s a great weapon off the bench for now as he gets used to the league but hopefully many more to come!!

Yes it was a miss, but to miss those you've got to get into those positions which is something he's got that Kanga,Metie haven't.

Was impressed with his after match interview as well. We may well have the gem we've been looking for.

You know sometimes you have a genuine positive gut feeling. Early days but looks a very good signing. What I liked is he missed a sitter and straight went after the ball and carried on. His post match interview said as much. Mentally for a young lad he is strong which will hopefully make the difference for him to flourish in his career with us.

We are well overdue some luck with a foreign striker signing

Looks a proper striker

Works hard, mobile and strong as an Ox. He's got all the attributes you want from a target man, so the signs are encouraging.

He won a few headers in the box I wasn't expecting him to win and the way he outmuscled Tanganga to create the space for the goal was impressive. It was a poachers goal and we have lacked a poacher for a long, long time. Even the header he missed, he got into the position to have that chance. He got into the correct areas tonight.

In the future, I can see him being a right handful in the air. He seems to have the ability to pin down defenders who mark him tightly and physically dominate them. I don't see him getting roughed up with defenders clattering into his back. In fact, I can see defenders bouncing off him.

What encouraged me the most though was his post match interview. You can instantly tell from the way he talks and conducts himself, he's the correct character for us. He seems an intelligent, level headed young man with a strong mindset. I don't see anything phasing him. He seems the type of person who will simply take everything in his stride.

I'm very encouraged and I'm excited to see more of him.

I'm very wary when eulogising about new centre forwards, no matter how big an impression they make at first. Take Steven Thompson, a wonderful 2-goal debut against Burnley, one of which was an absolute screamer. He then only scored a further 14 goals in 96 games for us.

Great that Salech is up and running and looks to be a bit of a handful but for now it's just a very good start. A more accurate assessment of his abilities can wait till much later in the season.

I think the key for me he looks like an athlete, he seems eager to impress and work. I watched him and he positions himself between the posts. He had three efforts tonight and score with one. Snatched at the header but didn’t moan and mop like Etete he ran to the ball boy demanding the ball.

Promising but early days.

Agree with that. Still a bit early to call too much. But certainly seems a worker / fighter and good attitude and hopefully that goal gives him more confidence to push on. Seems confident already though which is what you want from your striker

When he came on, he was a handful up there.
Millwall defenders were struggling to handle him big time!

He also done well on Saturday against the JB’s. He had a couple of good touches, and showed what a presence he could potentially be there too.

Interesting to see how he develops..

Re: Early thoughts on Salech?

The miss I thought was a difficult chance and the goal had a bit of luck to it as I thought their goalkeeper should have saved it.

The real thing to look at here was that he got into the right positions and won the ball. That is what a striker does.

He looks a promise but lets not put pressure on him.

Re: Early thoughts on Salech?

I was expecting someone in the mould of Etete when I saw his size.

An early opinion and thought but he could be exactly what we have been missing.

Presses from the front, has energy and is very strong.

He will cause a lot of problems for defenders in the championship and his passion already is going to make him a fan favourite here I think.

Yes he missed the header, should have got it on target but he is getting into the positions and more than made up for it at the end.

He’s definitely got a presence about him, Think he’s gonna be a great signing for us!!! Great turn and finish and good energy!

Fact he was happy to play in pain was a positive in my mind.

We have had plenty who wouldn’t.

I thought he moved like an athlete rather than a big guy, three chances in his appearance scoring one is excellent

Been impressed with what i have seen so far He has only played 30 mins total so need to see more He does remind me of a young Keiffer Moore from the limited time i have seen him

An injury could happen at any time.

It says a bit about his mental fortitude I think
