Congratulations to a big City Fan

Tue Feb 11, 2025 8:50 am

Congratulation to my boy Tom a big City fan and season ticket holder I remember him crying at Ninian Park when we lost to Stoke in the play offs and knew he was hooked on Cardiff for ever more
Now he has been awarded Cardiff’s first ever Micheline Star hell of an achievement. I know this type of restaurant is not everyone’s cup of tea But still a great achievement

Next time I am in Cardiff I plan to pay a visit.

I know its not for everyone but the prices appear very reasonable. In April I was on a cruise ship where they did a 5 course tasting menu for £55. So £45 (4 course) and £100 (ten course) seem extremely good value in my opinion.

That is absolutely amazing and can only raise the culinary bar in our great city, ironically I booked a table for the 10 course (will have to smash the gym first that day) menu only this morning after reading of his wonderful achievement in the wales online app. A truly appreciated bonus to know he is a bluebird :bluebird: small world indeed !Tell him I tip like a Yank :occasion5:

I wanted to go but unfortunately, they've hiked the prices up an extra £25 per course. It's very cheeky considering the owner is a Bluebird. I thought the prices were fair and I was really looking forward to going, but I'm not sure I will now.

Just checked their website now and still showing £100 for the ten course tasting menu, which for Michelin starred restaurants is quite acceptable. :bluebird:

It's now £95 for a 7 course and £125 for a 10 course.

Very disappointing as I would have happily paid £100 for a 10 course, but I can't accept the prices suddenly shooting up like that.

Thank you for that, just logged on again, still showing £100 until you actually click on things and start making reservations that it changes to £125. We are still going to honour our booking and hopefully worth the extra 2.50 per course :bluebird:

The price hikes come with the Star I suppose.

25 pound doesn’t seem too bad for 10 courses, 2 pound 50 per course extra

Hopefully good news for you, the current £100 for ten courses will be honoured until 1st April 2025. Then the new price of £125 will be implemented :occasion5: hope this is helpful :bluebird:

Given the award of the Michelin Star, I think it's perfectly reasonable for prices to increase. That's something any establishment would do when their rating, for want of a better phrase, would increase.

You're paying for a product which now has high quality attached to it. It's a bit like paying more to watch Cardiff v Man Utd in the Premier League compared to Cardiff v Luton in the Championship.

For a starred resturant even at £125 for 10 course it is still excellent value compared to other starred establishment. It will not be for everyone but for those who enjoy this type of food it is excellent value .
Add to this the new national insurance cost that come in from 6 th April , you will see many increasing prices without making extra profit

Really looking forward to it now, we have been to Annwn in Narberth which is also a great champion of tasting menus and great Welsh produce. :bluebird:
