Battling not bottling

Thu Jan 09, 2025 10:15 pm

Ralls speaking straight after the game summed everything up for me. He said it was a great BATTLING performance.
Similar to us getting a draw with 10 men. Battling.
I think Riza has understood that you can’t play Colwill and Robinson in the same 11 otherwise it becomes more of a bottling it performance.
Really refreshing to see forwards like Ashford and Tanner putting in challenges and tackles! In fairness Etete did pretty well :bluebird: after so long out.

Win or lose its a BATTLING Cardiff City I want to see and Ralls exemplifies the fighting spirit.

I think the penny has dropped we can't play fake Man City football. We need to earn the right to play, play in the right areas and luxury players need to deliver or not play

As I was saying….. in the opening thread….
Lets have 11 battlers on the pitch today. We have been much harder to beat since Robinsons sending off, becauae the team close down better.
You CANNOT pick Colwill AND Robinson in the same starting 11 today. Have to work hard when not in possession and CHALLENGE.
Come on City. :bluebird: :bluebird: :bluebird:

Just thought I’d revisit this thread. IMO if we don’t start with Robinson and Colwill we have a far better chance of steering clear of relegation.
Whenever they play together it doesnt work. They don’t give enough effort.I thought that th penny had dropped and Riza, at least, wouldn’t play both in the same 11. At present, Riza has my suport but you have to pick battlers and now he has more options. Sadly he did it again at Portsmouth. When he brought Colwill on (but didnt take off Robbo.).
I would not put either in the starting 11 v Bristol City. Maybe on the bench, or failing that, Robbo directing traffic outside the ground waving his arms etc :laughing6:

:banghead: Yep Riza sees how poorly we play when Robinson and Colwill play in the same 11, and thinks…. “ lets start again with Colwell and Robinson. Height of madness!!
In fairnessColwell did ok. At the end today we had 11 players working hard - that makes a hell of a difference. :bluebird: :bluebird:
Btw Alnick did ok couple of crucial saves ( better than Horvath anyway).
