Poll: Those who want Riza gone

Thu Feb 13, 2025 11:26 am

If Riza goes, there is a high possibility of Purse being our next manager.

I believe that Purse has been earmarked as a Future manager of the club for a while.

With that being said, if Purse was going to take over if Riza was sacked, would you still want Riza gone?

Would you want our Championship survival to be in the hands of Purse?

Purse may take over if riza went before end season but no way will he be permanent manager even allowing for tans irrational behaviour That would be self destruction of tans delusional idea of promotion next season and he would last until October! Purse as less experience than the tea lady.... :o

Nobody would want purse but thats hearsay about him being the next manager. Riza has 3 wins in 19 games, at any other sane club he would already be gone.

You can flex it how you want but that’s not the full story.

The 19 games has been specifically chosen to fit the agenda. You focus on the lack of wins, you forget to mention the unbeaten run in January. We had a number of draws during that time. It’s not as though we lost the other 16.

But again, that is being used to suit the agenda.

Agree, we are in a better position now than when he took over.

Everyone said we'd be relegated by March if he got the job, me included.

That hasn't happened.

He should stay.

Re: Those who want Riza gone

Absolutely not. Not with a run of 3 games which could make or break all the good/bad/indifferent gone before us.

January showed what we can do. Leeds was a disgrace. Pompey's record at home is very good having a quick look; the championship is tough away.

We need to improve, he needs to address our defence as that is the discipline that will get us relegated on current form; we are scoring more goals under Riza than Bulut.

Changing now would be foolish. Football fans have gotten so impatient with managers after the slight bit of adversity.

I voted no but it doesn't matter what we think, he's here til the end of the season unless we drop into the bottom 3 for a few weeks then Yan may panic. He can't afford relegation.

For me it's a case of i never wanted him but probably to late now but if tan had a mad rethink and was going to bring un a decent manager we would be mad not to accept.

Re: Those who want Riza gone

Thu Feb 13, 2025 2:27 pm

I just don't think we would get anyone better than Riza & would end up with Purse in charge as Tan would more than likely not be offering anything more than a contract to the end of the season at best rather than the 3 year contracts offered by other clubs which would attract a better manager. Surely that's how we ended up with Riza in the first place & the same would happen if he was let go, Purse as interim until the end of the season. Not for me.

I want Riza gone as No ambition having him here.

But he’s not the problem, the problem is the Hierarchy and their is the Real Problem .

Re: Those who want Riza gone

Thu Feb 13, 2025 4:16 pm

I don’t want Purse here either, I would rather Riza than Purse.

But none of them should be in charge

Re: Those who want Riza gone

TBF that is a slightly loaded question.

I'm staggered that 50% would see Riza go, only to be replaced by Purse, but as I said, the question is deliberately inflexible.

Purse had a horrendous record with the U21s and his involvement with the first team worries me. Our GD is shocking and I really hope that won't cost us.

I still say we need a 'manager' with Championship experience and not a coach - this is no place for a trial run for a would be manager with our precarious position.

What frustrating is that, barring Portsmouth, our rivals have gone out there to get an experienced manager, whilst we are gambling big time.

If Riza proves me wrong, I'll be delighted to hold my hands up, but it's not looking too rosy currently.

Re: Those who want Riza gone

The people who want Riza are out are in some sort of dreamland that Tan would bring someone good in.

Time and time again, Tan has chosen the cheap option.

I didn't want Riza in to begin with but we absolutely have to back him until the final game.

Re: Those who want Riza gone

Thu Feb 13, 2025 5:57 pm

The supporters ARE backing Riza but I think he will take us down.

Tan will not want that surely? I think Tan would panic and fire the bullet if we sink into the relegation zone for a couple of weeks.

3 wins in 18, he is one of the worst managers I've ever witnessed, it's just not good enough.

To be fair, I worded the initial post and the poll that way specifically for the purpose of showing that some on here have no idea.

People have their opinions about Riza and I understand why some want him gone, however for people to suggest that they want him gone even if it means Darren Purse taking over, with as you have rightly said, an abysmal record at U21 is barbaric.

I’d love to be able to see who it was that would prefer Purse to Riza.

Riza has the objective of keeping us up this season, and he is currently achieving that.

I agree with Annis that the board have no real desire for us to achieve, they are happy where we are, but that is the board and doesn’t take away from Riza currently achieving what he was asked to do.

I agree!

Darren Purse was just an obvious, if not massively disappointing, name thrown into the mix

Omer Riza taking over was probably the worse kept ‘secret’ of the current regime’s silent tenure but I’m not sure who promoted Purse after he appeared to ruin the youngsters

Nothing personal against the man but if Purse were ever to take the Bluebird ‘hot seat’, I think last month’s march would pale into insignificance

Being honest, I voted ‘no’ above, as we have improved since Bulut went and I honestly think the manager/squad are better post-Christmas than before and results will come :ayatollah:

Obviously some would be happy with Purse & rather have him than Riza.

Hearsay or not it is the most likely outcome if Riza goes, or do you & others think that Tan will suddenly come to his senses & start throwing around money & three-year contracts for a good, experienced manager with what's left of the season?

That's a serious & genuine question that anyone who wants him gone can answer. We know what we need but the chances of getting it are extremely slim in my opinion.

Back the team (& manager) not the regime.

I voted yes, simply, and easly, because that’s obviously the mindset of our owner… sack, and replace with their immediate subordinate, regardless of their credentials. Great business strategy, and it looks too be be finally working…. (NOT)!

The question is not about what the board will do.

If Riza is sacked like many want, and Purse was put in charge for the remainder of the season, would you be happy with that?

Purse being in charge of our 1st team in a relegation battle is all but sealing out fate.

I’m just shocked that 15 people would rather Purse.

No I wouldn’t. Any number of people connected to our club could, in light of what’s gone on in the last five or six years at CArdiff City FC, be considered, or linked to the managers position.
It wouldn’t surprise me if even the current stadium manager fancies their chances…?

Just too clarity, and reiterate my opinion,,, I’m not a fan of Rita, no disrespect, but he’s totally out of his league. The same goes for DP. It’s very sad, but it just goes to show how much the standard have dropped at our club in the last five years!

50% may have voted yes, but it's a small sample size.

If you asked every single home fan at the game on Saturday if they wanted Riza to stay, at least 80% would say yes.

Like ot or not Riza is here to stay and that includes if we drop down to League One.

It is but it’s representative of the board. And from my short time here it seems one that garnished a high number of votes.
