A forum for all things Cardiff City

Good results I can't complain about as a fan. I am not bothered really by the rebrand because I am a pretty young supporter so maybe my link doesn't run as deep to the club as the older generation (not afraid to admit it) but its just a crap day out to be honest. Its nice to see some football but when you factor it all in, is it really worth going to the stadium anymore?
All of the things that you used to go down there for are now being ripped away by PC brigaders, health and safety arse bandits and the upper class who have a 'right' to sit in peace and quiet at every game or they'll report you for noise pollution.
Going to games used to have one distinct advantage over staying in and listening/watching it and that was the atmosphere and getting caught up in the moment, having a good day out and a laugh with your mates after marching up to the stadium through Canton.
Nowadays you can't even do that. Stand up and you'll get someone behind you moaning and don't dare chant because you'll disrupt Mark Lawrenson and Alan Hansen in the row behind you analysing every touch and giving you a running commentary of the game that is unfolding right in front of your bloody eyes.
No wonder attendances are down across the country. Real fans probably think why bother whilst the yuppies continue to attend games with their families and watch a game of football in peace and tranquility. Football is dying and the above groups are causing it.
I'll probably just stick to the radio where im allowed to get excited when we almost score and go absolutely mental when we do.

I stood up yesterday and some guy told me to sit down in the canton!

Gone are the days when we used to sneak cans into the grange end
I loved it yesterday in fairness and I also think the new fan is catching on and getting behind the team as well!!

In answer to OP, No, never boring following the City. Nobody forcing you to go if you're bored either, sellout yesterday with people looking for tickets, just give your seat to somebody who is relishing our current position.

You.don't have a clue do you fella? I'm glad that you may stay away and listen on the radio. Cardiff City doesn't need you.

Not at all, I've never been bored of watching Cardiff City. The whole matchday experience was first class yesterday; biggest game of the season, top of the table clash, record attendance, amazing atmosphere, we won after going behind... top day out.

There's always one. Im not going to stop following them. As you know yourself you can get away memberships so in the future I might just do the away trips. I spend plenty on merchandise as well so there really is no need for such a jibe.

I thought it was dreadful to be honest but each to their own.

I also miss the days where going to the football had a real meaning to it. When women and children dared not to tread on the mucky ground behind the old bob bank. I have not yet celebrated a goal quite like I used to when we were the mighty Bluebirds. It doesn't feel the same anymore.
Thu Dec 27, 2012 12:45 pm
agree to a certain extent, recently we even had someone on this forum moaning about people swearing at a football match
the edge seems to have been taken off since we moved to the CCS, and now after the rebranding, i think its happened again. the footballs great but many people care more about the atmosphere and experience, and those people are losing out!
Thu Dec 27, 2012 12:48 pm
Well if you thought yesterday was crap then I suggest you don't go to home games anymore, 'cause it's not going to get any better than that until the end of the season if we get promoted.

First game with my half-season ticket in the Canton yesterday. Atmosphere was electric, everybody standing, chanting etc
Thu Dec 27, 2012 12:57 pm
To answer the original question, 'no'. Been going since 1968. Football has changed over the years, in my view, for the better, but many will disagree with that. Perhaps you were born too late. At times in the 70s, 80s, and later still, it was dangerous. Never mind 'marching with your mates through Canton', Tudor Street could be tricky. There was no real segregation, inside or outside the ground. Words had to be backed up. Many opposing fans would come in numbers. Is it the violence you long for?

Agree with both of these.

I'll never get bored of going, but I know what you mean, for the most part it's quite a shit experience. I still have a laugh with my mates and everything, but I really did realise it was changing at the Huddersfield game, when me and two friends were in Canton 105, row M, and got told by many people including stewards, to sit down. We instantly moved down the front only to be told we were in someone's seat who wouldn't let us cram in there. I only had two or three years of regular attendance at NP, but I loved packing into the Bob Bank standing, occasionally getting lager spilt all over me by some pissed up nut job.
Hopefully safe standing can put a change to that
Thu Dec 27, 2012 1:29 pm
i went mental for both goals yesterday. why? because i love Cardiff City and i still have that passion to support my club no matter what
if you dont......then i guess you dont love and support the club like you say that you do
Thu Dec 27, 2012 1:38 pm
I like the new stadium.
Thu Dec 27, 2012 1:46 pm
I don't enjoy the home games half as much as I used to and now don't mind missing a couple of games per season. Away days are still class though.

Agreed.

Yes I do but then about 3 seconds after the goal everyone is sat back down and if you stay standing people are straight on your case.
Thu Dec 27, 2012 1:58 pm
depends where you sit. would have been the same at ninian in the canton or the grandstand. just sit somewhere else. simple

I'll have to start going to more then.

i never get bored going, o love very minute of it
Thu Dec 27, 2012 2:11 pm
We really do need to cater for all types of fans.
Half the Canton and a block of the Ninian should allow standing, the family shouldn't allow foul language, the grandstand shouldn't allow standing or excessive swearing and should be for "yuppie" types
so 80's
I am massively in favour of safe standing, Hillsborough was a result of severely over packing terracing - a block that allows 1500 fans with 1500 tickets can not be unsafe. All seating has always been about anti hooliganism which I believe we as CCFC and society in general have beaten (not eradicated though).
It will never be like the 80's and early 90's - thank god, don't believe all the band of brothers bollocks it was a ugly experience and if the government had n't done their thing English football would be as relevant as the Polish
league.
Attendances are not down compared to the good old days, just from last seasons high.... Be careful what you wish for young man, you wouldn't want all that went before.

Of course you agree with them as they are supporting your initial post!!
Honestly if you do not enjoy it - dont go and then perhaps you will stop posting such negative comments
My family and I, yep my Mrs and boys, enjoy every game, we shout, we stand we make it such that we are not bored - we are there to support MM and the team
Thu Dec 27, 2012 3:21 pm
Top of the league with a team that scraps and fights when we have to and can also play some excellent football too, and still some people moan about something or other. Amazes me
Thu Dec 27, 2012 3:29 pm
It aint the same. The ninian years were often special, bob bank when a goal was scored and everyone went mental, hearing and replying to the away fans, the atmosphere in the pubs around Canton and Grangetown. knowing where you needed to go for a chant, the hostile/pasionate atmosphere, more of a stick together no matter what vibe.
Its still good but the passion has died a bit and i cant see that ever coming back. Years ago when we were shit, fans were there because of City, now a lot are there just in the hope of premier football, Which we all want but not at the expense of no soul.
Thu Dec 27, 2012 3:43 pm
Iv had season tickets at Ninian Park and CCS in the past and you cant even compare both stadiums in regards to match day experience.
The past year iv been away and not seen a single live game and to be honest iv not missed it at all. I dont plan on returning to the CCS due to the rebrand but I will travel away when I get home in January.
Thu Dec 27, 2012 3:53 pm
The new stadium has spoilt the matchday experiance for me and the rebrand. Will never buy a season ticket again. Just go to the games I want to.
