" CAMPBELL DEAL NOT QUITE SEALED "

Fri Jan 18, 2013 5:34 pm

I have been told that everyone involved is confident the deal will happen and everything has been agreed but not signed off.

I believe the fee is agreed, terms sorted and medical passed.

The reason is that Sunderland want to bring in a striker before the release Campbell to us.

Obviously there is a possibility of it going wrong from our point of view but until Sunderland seal the deal their end that is the position we are in.

The talk is 'early next week'.

Matt Kilgallon is in a spot of trouble for his tweet with O'Neill for putting his good luck message online when both clubs wanted to keep it under wraps for a few days or so.

If thats their attitude tell them to sod off. Simple as that. We must call their bluff and not stall on it. What if they dont get a striker in until almost deadline day? Then if we go for another option after being messed about we'll have to pay a premium. There is 11 days left so this seems stupid and to me like they're just being awkward or having second thoughts.

I would think we would do the same as them in their situation, they've offloaded a couple of strikers already so are a bit thin on the ground.

You have a point, we have the money (or so they say) to call peoples bluff. We could actually end up with Leo Fortune West in the end!

Hopefully we have a plan b,c, d etc.

I'm not bothered to be honest if we sign him or not (due to his injury problems). But this just goes to show how far we have come.
Dreamland :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Would love to bring a quality striker in though.

Carl
What made you think the deal was completed last night and that Campbell was a city player complete with squad number.
Do you believe he has taken his medical?

I didn't say the deal was completed Steve but I did find out from a source what number he was to be given and this morning Campbell has requested another number and the deal is still not completed.

Can't reveal my sources though which I am sure you understand.

Sunderland clearly don't want Campbell because as you say they have agreed a fee with us and let him go to the hassle of travelling down for a medical and allowed his agent to agree personal terms. If that's the case if they fail to bring in another striker how can they justify keeping Campbell when they've given him such a clear sign that he's not wanted by them? That's no way to motivate a player, it just doesn't make sense! :ayatollah:

Sounds like you should just keep quiet Carl, looks like another James Vaughan/ Jody Morris/Marcus bent scenario to me.

Carl.

I am not the type of person to snipe but I am sure you know full well that it is events like this that are your downfall.

You posted last night that the deal was done. You can come back and twist words but you made out last night on this board that Campbell was a Bluebird, you alluded to his squad number and even posted up a thread titled, 'Three Wise Men' as a point that you, lakey and Annis all know the apple.

Now, the deal is not done and you 'never said it was completed'.

Do me a favour

why didnt sunderland just keep him until they signed someone instead of campbell coming down having talks passing a medical and agreeing terms dont make sense to me? :?

And where exactly did I say it was done.

If I did then I will rightfully apologise.

I gave out the info that I was told of his squad number he was to be given.

Three wise men was to gain twitter followers, nothing sinister.

You do know it's your fault when deals fall through?

Agents, players, managers, chairman and CEO's all put their pens down and cancel deals as soon as you do an update. ;)

So, the deal was complete, now it's not.

The squad number was right, then it was wrong.

Think I'm just gonna wait for official confirmation on this one.
