Meat?

Tue Feb 12, 2013 11:21 pm

Just thinking. This horse meat thing seems to be massively widespread. We are not talking about the odd one here are we.

Do you think they knew? I mean ask anyone who's worked in a supply business, or a factory worker for instance, whenever you deal with a 'big' customer they always seem to work closely with you. They always seem to send people round to check out the factory etc. Your boss is showing around a bunch of suits after you've had a good clean up etc.

Yet people like Tesco, who've been buying these meat products for pennies, for years, are edging towards "we didn't know". Do you beleive them? And if they really didn't know then are they just as bad simply because they should have known more about the products they've been dealing in? Because if "I didn't know" is a defence then your local drug dealer could also use that defence - "I didn't know it was drugs, they told me it was lemon sherbet".

Of course they knew, pay peanuts to make more money there all the same, people never knew any diffrent untill told so like now thats the mad part, or it would have been going on for the next ten years with nobody knowing any diffrent bar tucking in to there food which is not what it was supposed to be :malky:

Seriously guys, there is nothing wrong with eating horse.
Pig, sheep, chickens, duck, turkey, cows, so why not horse?
Horse is eaten in many countries around the world.
There would be exceptions obviously, (Black Beauty and Shergar spring to mind) :D but if you are a meat eater, why not horse?

A horse as good as one in my avatar can not be eaten all in one go. :D ;)

But I agree yes, you should get what you ask for and what you pay for.

I think that the food industry should now be put under the microscope.....lets look at what else they are putting in to food products.....Salt, Sugar, M.S.G. Etc. and then telling us something different on the label.

Its a scandal & a fraud on a massive scale by the suppliers & retailers, you could argue that horsemeat is harmless but its not the point nobody would buy it if it said horsemeat on the label.

I think this has been going on for years & not only a few months.

You have a totally inept organisation like the FSA who only act on intelligence/ tip off to test food & not randomly, so anything can be in the food chain. what exactly do these highly paid staff do all day? & a goverment minister who is a clown & unfit /out of his depth for public office as witnessed by his interviews on tv.

I don't only blame the Conservatives/ Liberals but also the previous lot who are desperate to please these multi-national companies like them racist lot Tesco's who co-incidentally have as one of their senior executives the ex head of the FSA.

Prosecute & jail/fine those guilty & lets not have yet another expensive inquiry by MP'S who are responsible for this by being self serving pigs with their snouts in the trough.

You only get what you pay for........when you pay £1 for 4 burgers....what the hell do you think is in it.
Go to a good local butcher who cuts his own meat, makes his own mince and sausages....pay a bit extra and have some piece of mind. And try and bear this in mind in most things in this life...........you only get what you pay for. :ayatollah:

I blame all politicians/MP'S I make no distinction

I actually feel sorry for the people who work in the food industry who if confidence is not restored could lose their jobs due to the incompetance of the so called establishment.

You wont see any MP lose their job over this

Re: Meat?

I was listenning to this farmer going off on one today on the radio. He was saying that they have to jump through hoops breeding beef and getting them to market. They have to have the right tag in the bull's ear and the right paperwork for every little thing, so that they can trace back everey single detail on the animal. If any of these details are even slightly missing then that animal isn't allowed to enter the food chain. He said he's even seen a bull being rejected simply because its tag fell off.

They go through all that yet not only are illegal beef getting through but horses as well. How come no one checked? He also pointed fingers at the supermarkets saying do they honestly beleive they could buy beef for far less than the annimals market value?

Bet you a million dollors though that not one single supermarket will be brought to book for these crimes they've committed. For everyone else "I didn't know" is not a defence in law. But if you are chums with the government then clearly you are protected. It's like this country is run by the mafia with bent law and government in their back pockets.

On the plus side though, with it being Valentine's day and the mans turn to cook, I notice the steaks were galloping off the shelves in Tesco tonight.

If it says beef burgers you expect beef ,doesn't matter how much you pay. How do you know that the local butcher isn't cutting up a horse ?

When a horse and cow have been slaughtered and are on hooks they look almost the same ,except the horse has a longer neck and legs. But once these have been boned out you wouldn't notice the difference.

About 5 years ago you could buy a horse for as little as a £1 :o ,after killing it and boning it out you'd make serious profit
