If the Liberal Democrats were in power Gary Glitter would not have gone to Jail
In their Manifesto.
Also Burglars would not either

Sadly that's true Annis but it would also be true if either the Conservatives or Labour get in.

This country is so skint it can't afford to lock up criminals and that's the real truth.

Tony I believe the libs will be just to soft to run this country.

It does really suck. I could go out and pinch a car and get community service but even think of throwing a punch at football and i'm looking at time

Seriously Annis if you vote UKIP then its a wasted vote because they are not going to get into power. I like there policies but also the BNP but i wont vote for them. The Lib Dems are more left wing than Labour and we will be engulfed in PC. The country will be in ruins if they get into no 10. People are voting on Cleggs personality not his manifesto which will cost this country dear. We will all be over run by the feral scum that roam the streets Peados will be able to go about there hobby at will. We will be run by European laws overrun with immigrants. Shit will the last one to pack up and leave our country that speaks English please turn the lights out or thinking about it the lights will already be out with there manifesto on Energy.

I thought most football fans were banned from games rather than being jailed? ;)

There were 8 cardiff fans jailed a couple of weeks back.

For what charges?

If violence was involved then thats the law, and in theory they should get the same if it was a non-football related incident.

I do agree to a certain point, he did not get involved in the fighting, but at no stage did he also appear to try and stop the fight, in fact at several points he was dancing around aggressively.

14 months, No,

but was he innocent, also no!

Sticks and Stones, will break my bones but words will never hurt me, lets stick to banter rather than fighting ;)

In fairness to Annis Sludge Nick Clegg did say on the first inter-party leaders debate that he was against the jailing of minor offenders because he believed they would become more criminalised by more experienced criminals during their time in prision.

That probably does cover burglars but I would be surprised if it extended to sex offenders, although you never know.

His ideas do go against the grain, but I understand where Clegg is coming from. Provided the alternatives to prison are really aimed at rehabilitation and properly funded then I'm willing to give him a chance, however he has to limit how far he would take the policy and in no way should convicted prision offenders avoid prision.

Sludge I have read it in yesterdays paper and he also stated on TV that he would give lenient sentences

Re: GARY GLITTER

Well, if you read it in the papers then it must be right!!!

Such a complex area needs to be studied before forming an opinion.

Clegg and his party are concerned about the number of young people particularly, who receive short-term sentances. Re-offending rates are around 90% for these individuals. It may not be popular to say this, but community sentances have a much more succesful rate for offenders not re-offending and surely this is what we all want to achieve?

Who we send to prison and who we punish in the community is a very tricky decision, it's not an exact science and mistakes will happen. Prisons serve two functions - to keep dangerous people off our streets and to rehabilitate offenders. Sometimes the latter is better done in the community.

Re: GARY GLITTER

i dont think it is burglars and sex offenders that they where talking about, after all they are hardly "minor crimes" are they.

Can you imagine any other situation other than a 'football nicking' where a lad with no crimnal record
could get jailed for 14 months for what he did (or didnt do) here though?
