Dave Jones was wrong to field a second team Today, you should always go out to Win every game in MY OPINION. He should of continued Our Good Run, keep the momentum going. You could say he was worried about injuries, you can get injuries in training. He was scared of meeting The Jacks or Blackpool, well you might have to meet them in the Final, Why does he THINK Leicester will be easier ?
He has taken 5 years to just make the play offs, He is a nearly man in my opinion, I HOPE HE REALLY PROVES ME WRONG, But just saying what I Feel.

wolves got fined when they done it against Man Utd

i know where your coming from, but going into the playoffs with no injuries etc will be great, we should have a great strong side to put out

That Winning and unbeaten feeling in My Opinion cant be be beaten.

our starting 11 still have huge momentum
and if whitts/bothroyd/mcphail picks up an injury or a red card today dave jones would get absolutely crucified
completely correct decision
Sun May 02, 2010 2:52 pm
to be honest he was in a no win situation, if he had played them and picked up injuries or suspensions they people would complain, if like today he played the seconds and lost etc he was up for a roasting
had to call annis, but dave seems to be doing somthing right, just have to trust his decision

Annis I am of the same opinion that we should have kept a winning team together and tried to keep the momentum going into the play off games. What I find strange though is DJ said after the QPR game we were going to hunt down 3rd place and it was possible before today that we could have got there but he made a complete turnaround by the changes he made. I understand where he is coming from and that is why we had the thread on here 2 weeks ago highlighting this exact scenario and my view was to keep the side playing.
I do believe though that he can do it this year and take us all the way.

I think Jones got it dead right today.
He gave others a chance to prove themselves and rested the probable starters.
As they say in snooker "a shot to nothing"
Sun May 02, 2010 4:18 pm
I never saw it being a bad move at all. Tongue in cheek, but Warren got his chance right? A few players got a much needed runout (Burke has looked flat recently, particularly at QPR) and you can't really ask for much more. I wouldn't have been playing the likes of Chopra/Bothroyd knowing they're on however many cards and close to a 3 game suspension.
Let's face it, maybe a loss helps, you never want to go into a game feeling too confident and whilst being unbeaten in 12 would have been nice it puts the feet back on the ground.
Onwards and upwards.

in a way i agree.... BUT everyone would have been going nuts on here if jay both had got injured or mcphail had seen red....im sure its been said in the past when we played an end of season away game at bristol rovers i think it was and our then top scorer and striker (forget his name) suffered a broken leg that more or less ended his career.... everyone then questioned why he played.... so in away jones was in a no win situation.... roll on the play offs i say...at least we are there....

I have to go with DJ on this one. Most knew there was a likelihood of a weakened team
going out there today, and most will forgive Jones for it.
The prority has to be winning the play-off semi-final, it was vital we did not go into that
game with injuries/suspensions. Job done.
Unbeaten runs have to come to an end. This group of players have proved they
can come back from a defeat, and our key players have been rested.
Sun May 02, 2010 5:32 pm
even if we dont win the playoffs dave jones has done a great job this season and he did right today resting players
Sun May 02, 2010 5:43 pm
I think he was spot on. We have to keep our reserve/back up players sharp for the play offs, just in case, and today was a good opportunity to do so, plus most of the players who have taken us on this good run of form weren't part of a losing side today so, in effect, they're still on a good run.
But, as was pointed out earlier in this thread, he was damned if he did, damned if he didn't
Sun May 02, 2010 5:48 pm
if he had played a full team and got 2or 3 injuries you would of been calling him a stupid tw*t,get a grip there was no way he could risk playing a full team today, like you say its only an opinion but he made the right one today i thinck!!
Sun May 02, 2010 5:58 pm
I disagree, we can't afford for any of McPhail,Whittingham, Ledley or Bothroyd to get injured.
This game won't matter to the Eleven who start against Leicester.
The proof of the pudding will be how we get on at the Walkers.

Speaking as one who went up to watch our "stiffs" in action (don't get excited boys),
I disagree with you Annis. It wasn't great to watch and you knew we were gonna get beat but I'd feel a lot worse if Jay, McPhail, Marshall, Whitts, etc etc had been red carded or injured. Hopefully, it won't dent out first 11's confidence too much. I think DJ got it right for once and I could say you're talking out of your a**e but of course but I wouldn't say that because we respect each other's opinions on here don't we?

Sorry mate for once I totally disagree, those players needed a well deserved rest and are still 10 or 11 games unbeaton, that was our reserves today !!!!
If the players had played half heartedly today and lost that would be a lot worse for confidence and you can't just dismiss injuries, Bothroyd could have got injured today and missed all three games, and he is replaceable.
Leicester know todays game meant nothing and it was our reserve team, and will be worried that virtually our whole team will have been rested and fully prepared for the games.
Blackpool are dependant upon Charlie Adam and he is on 14 yellow cards one more in the next 2 games and he will miss the final if they get there.
Spot on DJ IMO

Just got back home to Reading from Derby and I must agree Annis, two of the subs that we had today had such high squad numbers that they were not even in the programme.
Whilst I can see the reason why DJ done it, it is no different from playing the game for a full 90+ minutes and not sitting back holding out for a result. How many times have we scored late in the game to get a result (Swansea a great example).
As for Leicester or Blackpool, to go up we would have to gain a result against either of them so why worry about them, let them worry about us.
At the end of the day we now have to focus on Leicester for both legs and not to be complacement one way or the other, the WHOLE squad have to come together as one, to work as a unit, whether they are in the final squads or not.
Good luck to Cardiff City FC, players, management and staff one and all, just go out and give it your best shot, giving no less than 100% and each and everyong of you will get the backing from all of us, the fans. As always with our club it has been a rollercoaster ride of a season both on and off. Onwards and upwards

just got back from Derby and yes i understand what you are saying but to be honest IMO he did right to protect the key players from the likes of savage running round like a headless chicken lunging at playters left right and centre and not being called for it - any of our key players could have picked up a serious injury and for what - nothing!
The other players of the team been crying out all season to proove themselves to the fans and today they had their opportunity.
Bring on the play offs with a refreshed squad ready to give it their all in 3 games

Ditto on all points made, And aren't these players supposed to be good enough replacements in the championship.
What replacements/subs are we going to have in the holy grail should we get there?

Its a bit of a catch 22 situation, i personally would have prefered to field our strongest team to keep the momentum going, but again if we had injuries then obviously it would have had a knock on effect so i can see where DJ was coming from.Bring on Leicester.
Sun May 02, 2010 8:18 pm
Whatever happens in the play-offs I believe DJ was right today. At least we can now go into them with our top 11, no suspensions no injuries.
He has now given us a great chance and it will be down to the best team over two legs
Sun May 02, 2010 8:56 pm
annis, i disagree.
i am glad dj decided to rest the prefered 1st team in preparation for the play off's.
it's no good winning if you pick up injuries to vital players.
Sun May 02, 2010 9:10 pm
but at what cost. i would rather have a full strength squad for the play off's than have an important player injured in a match that meant nothing.
