Brilliant
Real Valladolid striker Javi Guerra will play for Cardiff City in the Championship next season, according to Bluebirds boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Cardiff nearly secured Guerra's services in January after meeting his buyout clause but he eventually opted to sign a pre-contract agreement for a three-year deal that would see him link up once his Valladolid contract was up in June.
There had been some confusion over the deal given the Bluebirds' relegation but Solskjaer has told WalesOnline the deal is "watertight" and after a medical, Guerra will join up for pre-season.
Solskjaer exclusively revealed: “He’s still joining us yes. It’s a watertight contract all the papers are signed.
"He still needs to do his medical, but he will come and do that this month when the Spanish league has finished. That’s all sorted though. After that he joins us for preseason."
Guerra is 32-years-old and has 16 goals for La Liga side Valladolid this season, the latest two of which came in a 4-3 defeat to Real Betis last weekend.
Solskjaer added: “He scored a couple of goals on the weekend. He’s a very exciting player”
Experienced Guerra's previous clubs include Cadiz, Valencia and Mallorca.

Nothing personal Ole but I will wait until I see him on the official site holding up a shirt before I get excited about this signing !

Three year deal for a 32 year old? Wouldn't of given him that tbh

He sounds like he will be motivated.
"He cant back out now we have his contact watertight"

3 years at 32. Good to know the silly deals have ended.

That's Valadollid and now OGS confirming it will happen.
I will still wait on the player himself to say so. Still time to twinge an ass muscle and fail the medical.

Exactly. Scored 15 La Liga goals so can't be too bad ey? Will easily do the business in the Championship IMO.

Great signing, proven goalscorer in one of the toughest leagues in world football. Nice to see the obsessions with young players and sell-on values are not clouding judgements.

Helgusson did well for us in the championship and he wasn't a spring chicken

Anyopne moaning about his age only has to look at Kevin Phillips and the impact hes had in his mid t30's to early 40s hes had 4 promotions from the Championship.
Natural goalscorers are a rare commodity in football and this guy is a natural.

At least our Manager can chose his own players
Who is the muppet going to sign, Alan Tate to help him fight Cheato

If he doesn't want to play in the championship all he has to do is fail the medical , he will then become a free agent and can go where he wants .
Just a thought before we get too excited it's not exactly watertight

strange thing to say since Bony was the board selection not ML's
but typical how you have turned a this thread into one involving the Swans (again)

Im not wrong. If it was a normal pre contract agreement there is no way he would go to you.
Sounds as if hes been trapped by red tape.

Or maybe he is just a man of his word and is willing to take the gamble on us bouncing straight back up . Like I said if he's that bothered all he has to do is fail the medical , we will see in a few weeks I guess.

Can you just fail a medical by choice?
He is 33, he isnt going to want to be in the championship. Man of his word or not.

He is 33, his career is soon over. He will want money. I guarantee you he will earn more for Cardiff in the championship than he would playing for a low table team in La Liga.
Edit: Thats not to say the deal is bad for Cardiff, if he helps reach promotion he'll be worth every penny - even if his resale value is 0.
That's all there is to it I think.
