Now that the season has passed

Thu Jun 03, 2010 8:48 pm

What are your opinions of CCS ?

Most did not welcome the move and I understood but never agreed, as much as I loved Ninian we needed the move.

What are your thoughts of the external look of the stadium ?

I have always liked the Lego look as it made it slightly different from other new stadia.

Atmosphere at the stadium ?

Some thought it would never create the atmosphere like Ninian did but it my eyes it did during certain games and the place rreally did rock.

I am delighted with the first season the stadium produced but now it is missing Premiership football so hopefully this season will fulfill our ambition.

i really like the stadium now, it has grown on me. atmosphere is good there too , especially the last few games.
also wacko jacko would have loved to have done a gig there. (probably in the family stand)

Carl,
I know we had to move, but I still wish we were there and the Capacity was about 25,000. I still reckon it was more intimidating and a much better atmosphere than in the new stadium. The new stadium finally came alive the last few games of the season :ayatollah:

But give me Ninian Park any day. :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

I still miss Ninian Park and dont think we can ever replace it, but some games throughout the season the atmosphere has been superb at times.

I was in the family stand this season but next year i am moving over to the Canton Stand where the atmosphere will be much better. :ayatollah:

I hate the New stadium.
I know we had to have a new stadium but why didnt we do what Preston North End done?
Upgrade the stadium peice by peice and not have the stadium with corners, just the 4 Stands and it would still be close to the pitch?

Re: Now that the season has passed

I think its a nice stadium. I loved the old one but every club needs to move on at some point. I thought the atmosphere wouldn't be the same, but nearing the end of the season (swansea, leicester, etc) the atmosphere was electric and evil.

I miss the old chants though - WE ARE EVILLL

I like it, can have a piss and a pint at halftime without missing any of the game :)

the only thing i was worried about was the atmosphere, and it's better at the ccs

leicester in the playoffs was arguably as good as leeds 2002

Hated leaving Ninian Park, left it in the worst way possible.

But Can not wait for the season to start and get back into the Canton Stand and get the noise going again. Was tempted to buy a ticket for the Phonics gig Saturday just to go into the stadium. May sound sad, but I miss it already. Roll on the Friendlies!! :ayatollah:

Im love the new stadium and we've got brill seats but not fussed on some of the people who sit around us , the pitch was a let down though I must admit and so was the 10p price rise on my Strongbow in December . Despite the numerous tv's in the bar area I did miss the winner against Doncaster coz I was having a piss

Becuase we couldn't afford it.

We were only able to afford the stadium because of the money Capital and Regional gave us for being able to build the Shopping Centre as part of the developement.

If we had upgraded the stadium we wouildn't have got that money.

I absolutely love CCS but will never forget Ninian.

Re: Now that the season has passed

I’d give it 7/10 overall which for a first season there isn’t too bad.

That said before the league game against Leicester the atmosphere there was terrible – since then it has improved but I hope we can carry that on into next season. The view is brilliant from where I sit and as people have said it is much easier to have a beer and a piss at HT – the beer backpacks are a great idea.

As far as appearance it looks what it is – cheap. With the space to expand it looks unfinished and I also think they should give it a lick of paint inside similar to what they did with the lower grandstand.

Overall it has grown on me though so fingers crossed for another good season there next year.

agree totally
norwich, ipswich, wolves, preston are examples of clubs who updated their famous homes
they have a modern stadium AND they've kept their history

we have a bland 'ikea' stadium in the middle of a retail park :x

Re: Now that the season has passed

The move had to be done because we need to attract new fans. Without doubt it is more enticing for the new fan than NP. If we get off to a good start and keep our consistancy we will attrack bigger crowds. We now have a stadium to cope with this.

Personally I find it more feasible than NP. I have my own seat in the Ninian stand but when I take my girls I am comfortable with the fact we have an excellent family stand that I can take them too. Thats what I like most about the place.

Summing up it had to be done.

Re: Now that the season has passed

Fri Jun 04, 2010 3:49 pm

i hate it.
the lego look is cheap and nasty.
the atmosphere is shit.
we are too far away from the pitch to be as intimidating as np.
even with more food stands it takes longer to get served, in the family stand anyway.
and we are constantly told to sit down by jobsworth stewards.

Re: Now that the season has passed

Fri Jun 04, 2010 3:54 pm

I really like it now but mainly because the people we sit by are really tidy and know their stuff. Better than being stood by randomers or being sat by a donkey who doesn't know why we're playing keep ball when 2-1 up with a minute to go! :ayatollah:

I agree about the lego look, im not fussed on it at all.

Although if you are in the family stand it seems a bit harsh on the kids behind you if your wanting to stand

I think its great, the atmosphere is down to the fans. Will never forget the Swansea, Leicester play off semi games.

Re: Now that the season has passed

Fri Jun 04, 2010 7:25 pm

Ninian Park will always be my spiritual home but let's face it, clean and numerous bogs, better but pricier catering and where I sit the atmosphere has been consistently better. But it will NEVER come close to the FA cup match against Leeds. Truly electric and as possibly one of the greatest atmospheres at a football ground EVER

Re: Now that the season has passed

Fri Jun 04, 2010 11:24 pm

I agree the we will never get close to the Leeds game but ud say the
same if at ninian.
