Why SOME Celtic Fans hate the troops

Fri Jun 11, 2010 12:31 am

I think it is disgraceful that the soldiers will face prosecution for following orders.

This is just another example of the ruling classes using our lads to fight illegal wars. To them we are cannon fodder they really don't give a f**k. :old:

Paul Weller had it right.

"These days I find that I can't be bothered
These days I find that it's all too much
To pick up a gun and shoot a stranger
But I've got no choice so here I come, war games

I'm up on the hills, playing little boy soldiers
Reconnaissance duty up at 5:30
Shoot, shoot, shoot and kill the natives
You're one of us and we love you for that

Think of honor, Queen and country
You're a blessed son of the British Empire
God's on our side and so is Washington

Come out on the hills with the little boy soldiers
Come up on the hills with the little boy soldiers
Come out on the hills by little boy soldiers

Come on outside, I'll sing you a lullaby
Or tell a tale how goodness prevailed
We ruled the world, we killed and robbed
The f*cking lot but we don't feel bad

It was done beneath the flag of democracy
You'll believe and I do, yes, I do, yes, I do
Yes, I do, yes, I do, yes, I do, oh

These days I find that I can't be bothered
To argue with them, well, what's the point?
Better to take your shots and drop down dead
Then they send you home in a pine overcoat
With a letter to your mum

Saying find enclosed one son
One medal and a note to say he won " :ayatollah:

You can't class northern ireland as an illegal war. The region (rightly or wrongly) has
Been sovereign territory for hundreds of years so it was perfectly legal to stick troops
In there!

The rules of engagement back then were not clear cut, but the officers lost control and
The paras most definitely were opening up on unarmed civilians. What happened that
Day ensured that generations of bogsiders would grow up despising the British.

However, Celtic is in Glasgow, Glasgow is in Britain. So if them filthy f*cking IRA loving
Cunts want to mug off our troops and the protection they provide then why don't they
f**k off to Ireland to live!

Exactly the point I made to one of them before butting him last season. Scum!

A crime is a crime wether it is commiteted hundreds of years ago or two mintes ago.

So, it is an illegal occupation of a foriegn land.

If the brits had not starved Paddy out of Ireland then there would be no Glasgow Celtic.

If the brits did not back the USA in their oil wars then there would be no need for any protection.

and I'm mates with lads that have served in Northern ireland. One of my oldest mates brother was killed there.

I don't agree with all the nonsense and violence I just believe and agree with the vast majority of it's inhabitants that the island of Ireland should be it's own republic and the reason I post on this subject is because most people are misinformed by the British Anti irish propoganda. Most of it which is spread from the Loyalist areas of the six counties and Glasgow Rangers F.C

Agree.

People need to remember there never was an Irish problem...until the people from the British mainland stuck their oar in centuries ago.

Likewise with the way the Irish have been treated by the Brits over the years is it any wonder that there is a simmering resentment towards the British military machine amongst a large percentage of Celtics support ?

People have long memories and events like Bloody Sunday and shoot to kill are not easy to forget.

My personal opinion is that both Celtic and Rangers do need to move on and Celtic fans continued singing of IRA songs needs to stop as do Rangers fans sectarian chants too.

Both clubs have proud histories - Celtic FC was started by a Marist priest in order to raise funds for hungry and poverty stricken Irish immigrants in the East End of Glasgow and Glasgow Rangers has been a giant of British football for over 120 years.

Time both clubs fans followed the lead of those running their clubs and left the bigotry behind.

I work with a couple of Celtic lads ,one is from Glasgow & the other from the republic ,the one from the republic is a decent lad, easy to talk to but the prick from Glasgow is always spouting his shit. Very bitter towards Britain

What a load of old bollox on this thread, I live in Donegal and footballing wise its Celtic first here. There is a massive Celtic base here and I can tell you that the Celtic fans here paid a good tribute on remembrance day and laid a wreath for the fallen.

Some Celtic fans are those from the likes of West Belfast who had suffered during the troubles and will never forgive the way the British army had treated them, I would not be atall surprised if the Guardian is deflecting a due criticism from the bloody sunday report in which the government has already admitted that the shootings by Paras was illegal.

Its so easy to stereotype, like all City fans are thugs. Some should really get off their high horses and stop throwing stones

why bring the city in2 it. we are talking about glasgow celtic fans and their anti army/ British views. im ccfc through and through proud to be welsh and british. it does piss me off tho when some people try to create a ccfc/celtic/republican alliance. personally i dont want anything to do with the celtis religious bigots

If your Welsh then your also a Celt, no getting away from that fact. Its not a CCFC/Celtic fc its a CCFC/CELTIC which is so.

Dont you think that loyalist are bigots, I lived in Andersonstown in Belfast and whitnessed 1st hand how the squaddies treated locals. Having said all that I know of 3 serving soldiers that are Celtic FC fans.

I brought up the City because this thread was quickly stereotyping ALL Celtic fans as IRA types.

So in loyalism can you condone the Shankill Butchers, the Dublin Bombings, the Monaghan bombings, bloody sunday. All controlled by the then British government and sanctioned by a certain army major who also used his position to import guns into NI from S.Africa.

I just dont understand why someone from Wales would latch onto this loyalism melarky, the history of it is purely evil mate, you should look into it more.

BTW Im not a Cetic fan, Im City through and through. One love in football, I dont believe that any life is worth a piece of land. I admire the likes of Adams, McGuinness, who had the balls to stand up to the IRA(despite of thier past) and convinced them of a peaceful solution which is now working for the good of NI.
